When was the last time you picked up a scam call by mistake? According to ComReg, last year over 90 per cent of adults in Ireland received a scam call to their number. * BT Ireland has been working hard to stop scam calls. Thanks to our advanced data analytics and collaboration with industry partners & ComReg, we’ve blocked over 1.4 million scam calls since the implementation of nuisance calls blocking on 3rd October 2024. Focusing on our customers, we were the first carrier to implement the Do Not Originate (DNO) and Protected numbers range blocking, following months of advanced data analytics to identify traffic that might be affected. This has resulted in significantly less nuisance calls with minimal impact on valid but misrouted calls. With one of the biggest telephony routes to Ireland, BT Ireland continues to work with the Nuisance Calls Industry Forum (NCIF) and ComReg on the future evolution of scam call handling in Ireland.
