The day after of our third EECOLE roundtable at ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre (E-DISC) together with the OECD - OCDE, we hosted a discussion on the unique role and position that #Higher #Education #Institutions (HEIs) hold within local ecosystems. With their in-depth understanding of local contexts, HEIs are well-positioned to empower communities and foster synergies between local governments and stakeholders. Universities are important centers of knowledge generation, and their roles are evolving to encompass functions such as hubs for innovation, bridges connecting global and local perspectives, and potential drivers of solutions and agency for local governments. Moreover, HEIs are crucial agents of transformation in the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals #SDGs. By aligning education, research, and governance with the specific needs of communities, HEIs help pave the way for sustainable and inclusive development. These are some of the issues we discussed with: Raffaele Trapasso Paulo Nussenzveig USP - Universidade de São Paulo Carmine Bianchi Università degli Studi di Palermo University of Indonesia Alex Usher Cecilia Wessinger Global Entrepreneurship Network Jeong Hyop Lee Meyda Nento UNESCO Ivan A.
