  • Yesterday, we were honored to exhibit the work of Rekam Nusantara at the XXth Annual Scientific Meeting and ISOI 2024 Congress. During the event, we introduced the Fisheries Resource Center of Indonesia (FRCI) to experts, academics, and the public. Our missions and programs support various fields of oceanology, including: 🐟 Fisheries #bigdata through the IKAN app and CDC platform (Crowd Data Crawling) 🐟 #Shark and #ray conservation in Central Java 🐟 Ocean Accounts and blue carbon We were thrilled by the interest our visitors showed in our book "Groupers in Indonesia". If you're interested in owning a copy, visit our booth again today on December 13, 2024. The sea is a vast resource with endless potential and benefits. As we benefit from its resources, let's also remember to protect it, as the sea is a vital part of our lives. We look forward to welcoming you at STP IPB University. See you there!!! #OceanAccounts #SDGs #Suistainability #Conservastion #Oceanology #Fisheries

  • #DidYouKnow that our assisted schools managed to collect 241 kg of anorganic waste!!!👏👏👏 Since the waste #education program was carried out in schools along the ciliwung river. We collaborate with environmental ambassador students to learn and demonstrate good habits in handling #plastic #waste. And you know what happened? Other students were inspired 🤩👏 A strong commitment from each school community to sort their daily #waste is the first step to keep the ciliwung river clean. The #anorganic #waste that has been collected is distributed to Upcycling Mekarwangi. Not only that, students were also given lunch boxes as an effort to #reduce single-use plastic waste by implementing independent lunches. Remember, one small step can have a big impact on the environment. Let's sort your waste! This program is a collaboration between Rekam Nusantara Foundation, Ciliwung Naturalization Task Force and Plastic Smart Cities, and WWF Indonesia #3R #Reduce #Reuse #Recycle #urban #sustainability

  • Heroes Without Capes is a fitting tribute to Indonesia's ocean protectors 👏🏼🤩 Wallacea's waters face threats from irresponsible exploration of #marine products, #fish #bombing, and cutting down #mangrove trees. #Coastal communities, local #fishers are harmed. Catches are low, waters are destroyed. However, solidarity and joint initiatives make it seem as if life is good again. The Laskar Bahari group from South Solor, the Kewang group from Buano Island, and Maxi Lahidang from Bahoi Island have contributed greatly to maintaining and monitoring activities in #Wallacea waters. • Last month, we held an Environmental Discussion Room: Recording Cities and Climate Change 🪴 Public #awareness of #waste #management is important to overcome various environmental threats. Through collaboration with GenBI IPB University, we invite various levels of society to increase awareness of the environment. We provide a space for discussion and creation through #exhibitions, #movie screenings on the theme of innovation in resource management and drawing competitions. This activity was attended by 138 participants consisting of various community groups. Not only that, but many children were also involved in this activity by drawing about caring for the environment. Nature is a shared responsibility. Not only to be taken, but the need for care 🌱

  • HAPPY WORLD FISHERIES DAY, EVERYONE! 🐟🌊✨

🌊 WORLD FISHERIES DAY 2024: When you hear the word ‘fisheries’, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? 🐟  Maybe you think about fishers out at sea, casting their nets at sunrise…? 🤔 But fisheries are so much more than just the act of catching fish — they represent a thriving industry and a critical contributor to a nation’s #GDP, built on a complex supply chain that connects the #ocean to our plates.  From fishers and seafood processors to traders and exporters, fisheries sustain millions of livelihoods globally, providing #foodsecurity and driving local and international economies. And all of this wouldn’t be possible without the health of our marine #ecosystems and #biodiversity. On this World Fisheries Day, let’s celebrate our oceans, and all the hardworking people in the interconnected #supplychain that supports a resilient blue economy. Together, we can champion #sustainable practices that protect both people and the planet. 🌏 Verse translation: The ocean is blood, the surging of mother earth’s heart It is the ebb and flow in her veins carrying hope, yields and breath #WorldFisheriesDay #BlueEconomy #fisheries #SustainableSeafood #MarineConservation #Biodiversity #Economy #fishery #fisheriesmanagement #SDGs #SDG14 #sustainability #coastal #community Rekam Nusantara Foundation

  • “My Chocolate is Killing People” ⚡💣 Have you ever thought that the #chocolate you eat comes from the oppression of #indigenous and local communities? Chocolate is a sweet treat that is a favorite of many people. However, few know that the product is controversial because it damages the #environment. So, what's the correlation between #chocolate and #environmental damage? The manufacture of chocolate products often uses #palm #oil as an additive. A more stable texture with a mixture of palm oil makes many chocolate industries depend on this ingredient. However, did you know that much of the palm oil used comes from clearing forests, evicting indigenous peoples' land, and environmental damage. Through TuK Indonesia collaboration with Indonesia Nature Film Society, we are organizing “Fi.Nan.Sial Festival” an event that presents perspectives on the #financial and financing practices of Banks that impact the #destruction of Indonesia's #biodiversity. Prepare yourself on November 18, 2024 at Teater Salihara. Register yourself through tinyurl.com/nobarcokelat Get new perspectives and get to know your preferred products 👌

  • Last month, Yokyok Hadiprakarsa (Director of the Rekam Nusantara Forestry Program) attended the New York Work Climate Week 2024. Yoki presented the issue of Papua as an important key in combating the #global #climate crisis. 👏 What is New York Climate Week 2024? 🗓 An international forum held annually and attended by world leaders, environmental activists, business people, political figures, academics, and civil society. So, what do we do? 🤔 Yoki shared his perspective on the paradigm shift of #forest #management in Indonesia by involving #indigenous peoples and local communities in forest management. We also screened a documentary called “Dance of Paradise” produced by Indonesia Nature Film Society. The movie offers the beauty of the Cenderawasih bird and the challenges to the sustainability of local communities in Papua. Wanna watch the film? • Last month, Rekam Nusantara officially signed a cooperation agreement with the Bogor Environment Agency (DLH). 👏 #Waste generated both from #households and #industries must be managed properly and responsibly. As a producer of #waste every day, it is important for the community to be able to sort waste according to its category. What is this for? 🤔 Efforts to sort waste can be a solution in reducing the burden on final processing sites and of course maintaining the cleanliness of the region starting from your own home. What are the future benefits? ✍ The awareness of sorting waste from households will create a clean environment. Not only for homes, but waterways, especially rivers. A clean river provides living space for various types of #aquatic #flora and #fauna. This condition also affects the population of fish and other living things that depend on the river as their habitat. A healthy river environment can maintain the balance of the #water #ecosystem. So that the #biodiversity in it can be maintained. Through the collaboration of Rekam Nusantara Foundation and Bogor Environment Agency, it is hoped that it can strengthen waste management governance in Bogor City by providing Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R) Waste Processing Facilities at Bantar Kemang, Recycling Facility (FDU) in Mekarwangi, and providing education from the home environment, Remember, waste is the responsibility of the individual, not just the final waste manager👍 #3R #Reduce #Reuse #Recycle #Sustainability
