AQUBETA is a startup founded by Muhammad Syaifudien Bahry focused on creating solutions to support sustainable shrimp farming. Their work helps tackle issues like shrimp health problems and #environmental damage. • This Tourism Village was recognized as the World's Best Tourism Village by UN Tourism in 2021 after implementing this secret strategy to boost village income! At the DEWIKU (Desa Wisata Kreatif Unggul) Business Innovation Awards hosted by Central Bank of Indonesia on November 21, 2024. Our representatives Varyan Griyandi and Muhammad Aldy Pratama had the opportunity to gain valuable insights from a session led by Sugeng Handoko, the key driver behind Nglanggeran’s success story. Over the past five years, Nglanggeran Tourism Village has expanded its business through product diversification, utilizing on its abundant natural resources. By introducing a variety of #tourism products and services, the village reduced its dependency on a single resource while maintaining profitability. This approach allowed them to minimize the number of tourists visiting the village as an intentional strategy to prevent damage to homestays, tourist sites, and the environment caused by over-tourism, such as excessive waste. To ensure long-term #sustainability they implemented a structured development strategy by identifying available resources and categorizing their offerings into three key areas: core products, supporting products and complementary products. Rather than pursuing quantity, the village focused on delivering high-quality, diverse experiences that increase the value of each visit. This success was further strengthened by empowering the #localcommunity, who actively manage tourism operations and connect visitors with the village’s rich cultural heritage. For a deeper dive into these valuable learnings, check out the summary in our PDF below. Find out more! #dewiku #desawisata #capacitybuilding #bankindonesia #wonderfulindonesia

  • From an architecture degree to impactful contributions across three departments within the GoTo Group ecosystem, Iqbal Affandi proves that passion and eagerness to learn is the ultimate key. Since a young age, Iqbal has known one thing for sure: he wants to be useful and make meaningful contributions to society. With a deep interest in art, design, and human-centered design, he began his career as an architect. However, his drive to make a direct impact on society led him to join GoTo family as a marketing intern at GoTo Impact Foundation (GIF) in 2021, where he was able to channel his creative skills while harnessing his experience in the development world. His curiosity and desire for growth didn’t stop there. He went on to intern with the Learning and Development team at GoTo Financial (GTF) before returning to GIF’s Program Department, where he truly found his passion. His diverse experience enabled him to make significant contributions to GIF’s initiatives. Notably, Iqbal played a key role in the success of Generasi GIGIH, a tech talent development program. Under his contribution, the program’s Batch 3 achieved a 72% employment rate—the highest in its history! Reflecting on his journey, he shares, “Having worked across different fields, having the ability to adapt, take on new roles, and embrace continuous learning is both a key to success and a privilege. For that, I’m beyond grateful for growing in an environment where learning is actively encouraged, especially Mbak rebekka angelyn, my manager. She didn’t just encourage learning; she provided recommendations, networks, and access to training—both within the GoTo ecosystem and externally. These learnings empowered me to amplify my impact and improve efficiency for myself and the entire team.” "Never did I imagine that GIF would shape the trajectory of my life, and for the first time, I truly know who I am." Closing his chapter at GIF with a heartfelt message and remarkable growth, we thank him for his dedication, hard work, and impact he has made. Best of luck for your future endeavors, Iqbal!

  • As a first step towards scaling up, the Sukla Project, supported by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, organized the Clean Tourism Movement to educate local communities on waste segregation and management from the source. Having made significant progress in managing waste in Besakih Village and around Besakih Temple, the project sees an opportunity to expand its impact to the neighboring customary village of Menanga Village–symbolized through this event. Held on 11 December 2024, the event brought together local communities, potential waste bank cadres, and community leaders from Besakih and Menanga Village. It featured the establishment of a Clean Tourism Task Force, workshops, and demonstrations from Rebricks Indonesia on transforming plastic waste into building materials & Rappo Indonesia on workshop about waste management. • We are delighted to have our #GIFtedPeople Iqbal Affandi, Natasya Putri, and Muhammad Aldy Pratama participate in the 2nd IKI Communications and Digital Training held by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The event mainly discussed how impactful campaigns can catalyze changes and create strong advocacy for a #sustainable world. We got many insightful insights from the event, including that changes happen because of the society's collective action that comes after a collective awareness was made. Thus, to create that collective awareness, the campaigns that we are doing need to be consistent and reach the grassroots stakeholders who are key to change. Reaching grassroots actors also means that we need to simplify the complex information the message that we are trying to pass through can be processed easily by everyone. However, we realize from our #experience that it is not the easiest thing to simplify complex information. Thus, it was a reminder for us that we also need to understand the context of the audience that we are talking to and to collaborate with like-minded figures to amplify our messages. We have so many precious #learnings which summary you can see on the PDF pages!

  • Meet one of our changemakers from CCE 3.0: Bumiaji Sejahtera, an enterprise that aims to revitalize the agricultural sector through an integrated approach in agribusiness, agroindustry, and agrotourism. BumiAji Sejahtera was founded in 2012 by Rahmat Hardianto, Indonesia’s Millennial Farmer Ambassador. This enterprise was born out of Rahmat’s concern for the declining number of young farmers in Batu, Malang, where only about 2% of farmers are young in his village. With a comprehensive ecosystem from upstream to downstream, they manage farming, processing, and marketing activities in an integrated manner. Agricultural products are marketed, processed, or transformed into derivatives, creating added value and driving the local economy. Currently, Bumi Aji Sejahtera partners with over 50 farmers, positively impacting the livelihoods of more than 500 people. Through this integrated partnership model, Bumi Aji Sejahtera strives to enhance production value and economic benefits for local communities while becoming a hub for young farmers with an entrepreneurial mindset in agriculture. Curious to know more about how Bumi Aji Sejahtera manages the entire farming stream? Watch on our YouTube channel! #TalesofImpact #BumiAjiSejahtera #Malang #GIF
