Congratulations to our TELADAN graduates! We’re thrilled to celebrate the graduation of 159 Tanoto Scholars Cohort 2021 at our recent Graduation and Alumni Gathering. The theme, "Impact: It Starts with Me," resonated deeply, reminding us that real change begins with ourselves. As Inge Sanitasia Kusuma, Country Head of Tanoto Foundation Indonesia, eloquently stated, "Be leaders who ignite the light of change, from small communities to a broader world." Beyond celebrating academic achievements, this event provided a platform for our alumni to connect, learn from real-world experiences, and inspire one another. Since 2006, Tanoto Foundation alumni have been making a positive impact across various sectors. Together, let's continue to foster a spirit of giving back and empower future leaders to create a better world. #Leadership #ImpactStartsWithMe #PayItForward #TanotoFoundation

Teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education, acting as innovators and changemakers who drive improved learning outcomes. To mark Indonesia's National Teachers' Day, Tanoto Foundation launched its #SeruBarengGuru campaign, spotlighting over 100 dedicated educators as they share creative, contextual teaching practices. However, this is more than just a celebration; it’s a platform to encourage teachers to reimagine literacy and numeracy learning for a more engaging, relevant, and impactful experience for students. We believe in empowering educators by supporting their creativity and resilience and aim to inspire a future where every classroom becomes a hub of meaningful, impactful learning. #Education #InnovativeTeaching #TeachingMethods #IndonesiaTeachersDay #TanotoFoundation

As a recipient of the Tanoto Foundation Medical Research Fund (MRF), Associate Professor Rinkoo Dalan and her team at Tan Tock Seng Hospital are investigating the potential of colchicine, a medication known for its anti-inflammatory properties, to reduce heart disease risks in patients with Type 2 diabetes. Precision medicine is a key component of Associate Professor Dalan’s research, focusing on tailoring treatment to the specific biological characteristics of each patient. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, precision medicine enables clinicians to develop therapies that are more personalized and effective by accounting for individual variations. This study underscores the power of collaborative, interdisciplinary research and its potential to improve patient outcomes globally. #TanotoFoundation #MedicalResearch #MedicalPhilanthropy

At Tanoto Foundation, we are committed to a data-driven approach that ensures our initiatives have a lasting, positive impact on communities. This focus on measurement and impact evaluation is key to aligning our efforts with the real needs of those we serve, helping us create sustainable systems change. This is demonstrated by recent reports on our SIGAP and PINTAR programs in Indonesia, providing evidence of the critical role of early childhood development and quality education in shaping a child's future. Through robust monitoring and evaluation, we've seen impressive results: the PINTAR program has led to a 10% increase in literacy and an 11.6% increase in numeracy among students in participating schools, while the Rumah Anak SIGAP program has positively influenced children's cognitive, language, motor, and socio-emotional development. These reports were presented by our MLE Lead, Much. Arief Firdaus, and Radi Negara at the 2024 International Conference on Assessment and Learning (ICAL) by ACER, these findings demonstrate the power of evidence-based programs in driving meaningful educational improvements. By continuing to invest in early childhood development and quality education, we can empower children to realize their full potential and build a brighter future for all. #Education #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #Literacy #Numeracy #Impact #ICAL2024 #TanotoFoundation

What does the world look like from a child's perspective? Imagine being 95 cm tall and experiencing the world through the eyes of a three-year-old. This is the perspective of participants in the Urban95 Academy, an executive education program from LSE Cities and the Van Leer Foundation. The City of Balikpapan was selected as one of ten cities worldwide to participate in the Urban95 Academy residency program in London at LSE this week. As part of the 7th cohort, they participated in workshops on behavioral science, departmental collaboration, effective communication, and change making through narrative. Representing Balikpapan were three senior government officers and Roselina Ping Juan, our Regional Lead for Kalimantan. Upon returning to Indonesia, the team will be rolling out their programs focused on stunting reduction and housing improvements. Tanoto Foundation has been collaborating with the City of Balikpapan for several years to improve the quality of basic education. Recognizing that thriving communities begin with their youngest members, we are pleased to support the City's commitment to delivering services that nurture the well-being of young children and their caregivers. #Urban95Academy #VanLeerFoundation #LSECities #TanotoFoundation #Balikpapan #UrbanPlanning
