We’re happy to share that Gapai, a startup empowering Indonesian workers to pursue global careers, has secured US$1 million in seed funding to expand the reach of its job placement services. Gapai will utilise the fresh funds to strengthen the operational process for overseas placements with comprehensive technological infrastructure. Despite the significant global demand for migrant workers, Indonesians have had a tough time landing overseas jobs due to the long and complex application process lasting four to six months, and the steep placement fees. “Gapai's migrant worker platform transforms this process, making it faster and more efficient for employers and job seekers through its app. With meticulous candidate screening, Gapai aims to ensure quality applications without the usual wait, completing the process in a month or two. This means employers get a quick, steady flow of promising candidates from Indonesia while saving on labour and recruitment costs,” said B. Paul Santos Managing Partner at Wavemaker Partners. “The platform also provides candidates end-to-end support, from real-time application tracking to airport departure, at nearly half the placement fee of traditional agencies. To date, Gapai has helped over 400 migrant workers to secure jobs, including with some of the world’s biggest brands, across six countries.
