Restoring Degraded Wetland Forests
Tentang kami
Forest Carbon restores degraded wetland forests. Our company is a premium ecosystem restoration company in Southeast Asia that delivers benefits for local communities, biodiversity and investors through a proven business model. Forest Carbon’s team brings a track record of success and a decade of experience, from mapping wetlands and assessing below-ground carbon storage, to hiring local workers and obtaining community support. Forest Carbon relies on this technical expertise and a growing pipeline of project opportunities to secure millions in private sector investment for threatened ecosystems. Forest Carbon’s Sumatra Merang Peatland Project is now a proven business model for large-scale restoration, with more than 5 million Euro in investment capital raised. Sales secured from major global brands support restoration efforts on more than 22,000 hectares, which reduces the risk of fire, strengthens the rural economy and creates jobs, and delivers returns for investors and partners. This type of environmental and social performance is integrated into every level of Forest Carbon’s operations and management systems. Forest Carbon is scaling this successful approach by investing in technology with the potential to transform the way natural climate solutions are delivered. IoT Sensors and other monitoring tools enable rapid development of new restoration projects that protect threatened ecosystems, an effort which must increase substantially to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Airlines will need over 500 million tonnes of CO2-equivalent (MtCO2e) carbon credits to meet Phase 2 CORSIA requirements (2027-35), with prices potentially reaching $91 per tonne due to supply tightness, according to a new report. The analysis by MSCI Carbon Markets, based on projected demand and cost scenarios for over 400 airlines, estimates cumulative CORSIA-eligible credit demand at 106-137 mln tonnes in Phase 1 (2024-26) and 502-1,299 mln tonnes in Phase 2 (2027-35). Read our report on the state of Web3 and Carbon Markets, hot off the press from!
The issuance process for #carboncredits is notoriously opaque, slow, and disorganized. And though blockchain-powered carbon markets have long been proposed as a solution, there are limited real world applications. Together with Forest Carbon, a leading forest restoration company, we launched a pilot in 2023 to evaluate the potential of #blockchain to issue trustless credits, with the goal of delivering greater benefits to local Indigenous communities in Sumatra. Over a year, we assessed over 20 web3 carbon marketplaces, standards, and registries and interviewed multiple stakeholders. Here’s what happened, and the key insights and takeaways that came from it: https://lnkd.in/eGWkeDzT
