I think private kindergartens in Croatia currently behave like developers in their golden era. 1. Pricing Autonomy: Similar to developers setting their own prices, private kindergartens seem to have the freedom to charge whatever they see fit. 2. Unlimited Demand: Just as developers could demand anything or anyone they wanted, these kindergartens can seemingly do the same. If they're not satisfied with a parent or child, they can easily replace them from a pool of applicants in waiting lists.

And that's where everyone is now: going back to SSR, because this is the new correct. All the times before we were wrong but finally we're right. An excellent developer will be amazed by current technology but not blind by convinction. An excellent developer will both acknowledge the current changes but at the same time look at them with necessary critical viewpoints. Nobody wants to spend +𝟭𝟬𝟬𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀. But many do and 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 they hired. It's not because the developers they hired were necessarily inexperienced. But the process and pricing were simply off. Many are aware of the downfall of hourly pricing - and ask for fixed pricing. Which is not much better if done poorly. Check this blog post if you want to build software with a tighter budget and still get what you want. We are expensive at first, but only because we save you much more than you spend. Sell before you build. Software-engineer-turned-founder tip no1: DO NOT BUILD ANYTHING UNTIL SOMEONE PAYS YOU FOR THE CONCEPT. This is hard for me. This hard for our whole cohort of 100M coding engineers world. We are born product first. 🧑‍💻 We think ICP: “user needs this” or “user needs that.” Guess what? User doesn’t need anything until they pay you for it. Trust me sis. Go sell. Build later. Arugubly building difficultly is all time low. With claude 3.5, cursor and vercel v0. And selling is also all time low. Imho we, as in gen z and alpha, lack great speaking skills So selling is a “high effort” item But sell before you build. The best way to understand EMV is to imagine a transaction as a conversation between the card and the terminal. During this conversation, the terminal uses two checklists to ensure the transaction runs smoothly and securely: 1-Terminal Verification Results (TVR) 2-Transaction Status Information (TSI) How does it work? Both TVR and TSI start as arrays of bits set to 0. As the transaction progresses, specific bits are flipped to 1 to indicate certain events or checks. Example 1: TVR – Avoiding Fraudulent Transactions The TVR acts as a risk assessment checklist. For instance, the terminal might set a bit to 1 if: The card has expired. Offline authentication failed. The transaction amount exceeds the terminal's risk threshold. By the end of the conversation, the terminal evaluates the TVR checklist to decide whether to approve or decline the transaction. Example 2: TSI – Tracking the Transaction Process The TSI helps the terminal track the transaction’s progress. Bits are set to 1 when specific steps are completed, such as: Offline data authentication. Cardholder verification (e.g., PIN entry). Online authorization by the issuer. Think of TSI as a progress tracker, ensuring the transaction flows correctly from start to finish. The Bigger Picture By relying on these two checklists, the terminal ensures it doesn’t: Accept a fraudulent or expired card. Skip crucial steps in the process. A few days ago, the European Court ruled against Booking.com, allowing hotels to offer cheaper prices on their own websites. This could impact platforms like Foody and Wolt in Cyprus. If restaurants, coffee shops, and supermarkets using these platforms get similar rights, they might offer lower prices directly to customers, avoiding platform fees. This would give them more control over their prices and reduce their dependence on platforms, potentially changing how these online services operate. #bookingcomcase #powersoft #powersoft365

It's quite eye-opening to learn that a lot of software development projects hit a snag right at the finish line. Did you know that a whopping 80% of the work actually happens in the last 20% of the project? This crucial stage often doesn't get the attention it deserves. Many development agencies find themselves struggling here because of poor planning and budget issues, which sadly leads to projects being abandoned prematurely. What starts as a 6-9 month journey can unexpectedly stretch into years or, even worse, never get completed.

A lot of developers outsource their financial modeling. I usually do them myself, but once, I decided to hire it out and regretted it. He did an excellent job, but I was not satisfied. I did not know the template, so I had a hard time understanding the logic at first. I did not communicate all the assumptions I had previously made, which resulted in many iterations. One can argue that I should have learned how to delegate this task. To me, it is very important to not only understand the numbers but to also remember them. When speaking to investors and lenders, I usually answer the questions without having to look them up because I spent my own time working with the model. I wish I met Stephon Smith sooner. His model sounds incredible and I cannot wait to use it on our next project. Over the years of managing talented developers at COXIT, I’ve seen firsthand how the proper workspace setup can significantly boost productivity and job satisfaction. Based on my personal experience and that of our developers, here are a few suggestions: My personal productivity boosters: - Quality keyboard and mouse: I use the Numphy Air V2 keyboard and Logitech MX Anywhere 3s mouse, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with them. - The right music choice: For me, it was Dubstep between 2011 and 2015, and since then, it has been a few Drum and Bass playlists. - Physical routine every few hours: Doing 20 push-ups and 20 squats makes the heart beat faster, stimulating the brain. - A 1-hour power nap: I try to split my day into two, so my productivity is revived after the first half-day sprint. Here are some more practices I try to maintain: - Keep physical and digital workspaces tidy (especially challenging when working from home). - Wear protective glasses and take regular breaks to look away from the screen every few hours. - Add greenery to both the office and personal workspaces. (This is something we've embraced at COXIT.) - Plan tasks ahead of time using sticky notes or handwritten reminders, a method I prefer. The goal is to create an environment that supports deep work, which is challenging considering the short attention spans many of us have these days. Explore other elements that might work for you—meditation, aromatherapy, power naps, or a standing desk—and incorporate them into your routine. Now, I’m curious about you. The software development industry is highly competitive but also pretty problematic. - Projects almost never finish on time and / or on budget. - There is an utter lack of transparency from service providers towards customers. - Service providers just aren't reliable so outsourcing gets a bad reputation. With division5 we do our best to provide a different experience. This is how we ensure that : - Full transparency on every process we follow for our customers. If you want to outsource a process to a service provider, you need to know at all times what's going on. - We have the hard conversations in the beginning. If the budget is not enough, we will tell you, if there is any uncertainty, you'll know upfront, this way we avoid most of the problems in the future. - We care for our customer's products / projects as if they were our own. This helps us be reliable. We're definitely not perfect but we do our best to improve every day. Outsourcing can work but only with the right partners. #entrepreneurship #scalingTheUnscalable

Unpopular opinion: You always need someone tech-savvy when building software products. You might be able to figure out what you want to build. Maybe you even have a detailed requirements sheet to inquire fixed pricing from software agencies. But you most certainly have no clue .. - how to simplify the project, - what is incredibly cumbersome to build, - what is very easy to develop, - and how to actually achieve something remotely to Product-Market-Fit.
