A recent study conducted by MoneyHero in Hong Kong has shed light on borrowing trends among Hongkongers. Some of the key findings include: 🚀 A surge in consumer interest in urgent loans, with a 36.7% increase in organic traffic data over the last two years. 📊 Growing interest in loans from licensed money lenders, with the proportion of applications for money lender loans through MoneyHero growing from 51% in 2022 to 62% in 2023. 🔄 High repeat applications during the tax loan period, with 53% of repeat applications made during the 2023 tax loan period from October 2023 to January 2024. HKTDC Export Confidence Index 2Q24: A Significant Upturn Amid Rising Optimism The HKTDC Export Confidence Index 2Q 2024: Key Findings ·For 2Q24, the findings of the HKTDC Export Confidence Index indicate a significantly improved current performance, as well as a more optimistic business outlook overall. Reassuringly, all of this is underpinned by rising sales, new orders, higher prices and a likely increase in procurement activity. 🔈Crucially, the OverallCurrent Performance Index rose by 12 points to 51.6, while the Expectation Index finished even higher, at 54.3. 🔈Drilling down, Sales and New Orders were the most promising sub-indices. with both Current Performance (57.5, up 19.6 points) and Expectation (59.4, up 9.5 points) edging close to the relative high of 60. 🔈In other positive signs, both the Current (at 54.0) and Expectation (at 57.2) readings of the ProcurementSub-Index exceeded the neutral 50 level, a clear sign of a likely upturn in procurement. In a similarly upbeat finding, exporters also reported higher-than-normal inventory levels in the expectation of rising sales and new orders. 🔈Less positively, though, the Cost Sub-Index remained in negative territory in the case of both its Current and Expectation readings, an indication that upward cost pressures are yet to abate. #HongKong #HKTDC #ExportConfidenceIndex

Cross-Border E-Commerce (CBEC) presents huge opportunities for companies according to the latest survey reported by HKTDC. Some significant opportunities for businesses include: 1. Expand Sales Channels and Enhance Brand Awareness: Many companies (69.0%) see cross-border e-commerce as a way to broaden sales channels, with 50.3% identifying new market opportunities and 48.9% enhancing brand awareness. 2. Boost Sales Growth: A remarkable 90.0% of respondents expect cross-border e-commerce to increase their total sales revenue in the next two years. Companies engaged in e-commerce anticipate an average sales rise of 14.6%, compared to 8.4% from those planning to start. 3. Reach Global Markets: Hong Kong companies are exploring global markets, focusing on Mainland China (75.2%) and ASEAN (53.0%), while also considering the US (42.2%), Japan (30.9%), and the EU (30.0%). Mainland China and ASEAN are seen as key growth areas for the next two years. 4. Utilize Online Stores and Platforms: Among established e-commerce businesses, 64.3% sell through their own online stores, and 43.9% use specialized platforms. Additionally, 37.8% leverage partners' websites and 26.1% use social media for promotions. 5. Diverse Payment Options: To meet global consumer needs, 88.3% of companies offer various electronic payment methods, including PayPal, Alipay, and WeChat Pay, along with credit cards (72.6%) and bank transfers (59.6%). Weekly Transaction Update in Vietnam Keppel sells stakes in Saigon Sports City and Saigon Centre Phase 3. Keppel subsidiary Jencity Limited is divesting 70% of the charter capital of Saigon Sports City Limited (SSCL) to HTV Dai Phuoc Co., Ltd. and Vinobly Investment Real Estate JSC, retaining 30% of the charter capital in SSCL. SSCL develops approximately 64 hectares in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City. The total consideration from the transaction is up to S$391.1 million. On the same day, Keppel announced that Japan's Toshin Development has subscribed for 46,364,475 ordinary shares in Himawari VNSC3, a Keppel subsidiary with an interest in Saigon Centre Phase 3.
