It is not always necessary to refer a dispute to litigation. Alternatively, arbitration, mediation and other methods can be employed, particularly in the case of commercial disputes. Hong Kong has been actively complementing national policies to establish itself as a leading centre for international legal and dispute resolution services in the Asia-Pacific region. What measures can be taken to position Hong Kong as the preferred destination for international dispute resolution? 團結香港基金 Our Hong Kong Foundation has produced a special programme, “Konnecting the World”, on its 10th anniversary to explore new positions of Hong Kong in today’s new era with leaders from all walks of life. As our country is further deepening reform and advancing Chinese modernisation, how could Hong Kong proactively integrate into the overall development of the country? In the light of the accelerated growth of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative, how could Hong Kong, as a “super-connector”, leverage the emerging opportunities? Given the 14th Five-Year Plan has supported the development of Hong Kong in eight key areas, how could Hong Kong reinforce its international positioning? 團結香港基金 Our Hong Kong Foundation has produced a special programme, “Konnecting the World”, on its 10th anniversary to explore new positions of Hong Kong in today’s new era with leaders from all walks of life. Connecting the world from Hong Kong. Stay tuned!

團結香港基金 Our Hong Kong Foundation and the Center for China and Globalization co-organised the “Rethink Hong Kong Forum: Hong Kong’s New Role as an International City under the New Normal” (the Forum) on 2 December. In today's rapidly changing global arena, there are multifaceted challenges and opportunities. Hong Kong, as a "super-connector" and "super value-adder", has unique advantages and roles in many aspects, including systems, environments, and talent. The aims of the Forum were to identify strategies for achieving breakthroughs in a complex environment, to promote continuous exchange and collaboration between the East and the West, and to explore new opportunities under the policy framework of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, ASEAN, and all countries and regions along the Belt and Road. 何力治 Nicholas Ho Lik-chi, Commissioner for Belt and Road Office, HKSAR Government, mentioned that the threshold for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and private sector to go abroad must be lowered. He indicated that the Government has different schemes, such as Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales (BUD), SME Export Marketing Fund (EMF), Trade and Industrial Organisation Support Fund (TSF), among others support schemes, to help SMEs to access these new markets. #HongKong #Positioning #Role #BeltandRoadInitiative #BRI #ASEAN #Internationalisation #Globalisation #Geopolitics #Geoeconomics
