We are proud to announce that the FinTech Association of Hong Kong is among the 14 Asian economies that have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on anti-fraud collaboration at #FinTechOn2024. These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to combatting fraud in the FinTech landscape and enhancing cooperation among our partners to create a safer digital finance ecosystem. Additionally, on October 29, we signed another MOU with the Shenzhen Fintech Association, marking another significant step forward in our efforts within the Greater Bay Area (GBA). As the #superconnector, we aim to facilitate collaboration and innovation across the region. #FTAHK #AFA #AntiFraud #FinTechOn #FinTechOn2024 #MOU #GreaterBayArea
We are excited to share this important milestone of the Asia FinTech Alliance (AFA) with you! AFA has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on anti-fraud collaboration on 4th Nov at #FinTechOn 2024, an annual forum hosted by the Taiwan FinTech Association. AFA's founding Chairwoman Jaclyn Tsai, Dongpyo Hong from Korea FinTech Industry Association 한국핀테크산업협회, Vincent X. from FinTech Association of Malaysia, and Angelina A. Kwan CPA CA (Aus/NZ) representing FinTech Association of Hong Kong presented the MOU, which was witnessed by Wayne Lo, the Head Prosecutor of Taiwan Shilin District Prosecutors Office. We also want to shout out to representatives of AFA members who joined virtually in this anti-fraud MOU signing ceremony. Ma. Weena Llona from Cambodia, Amit Agrawal and Manish Modi from Nepal, Aries Setiadi from Indonesia, Brian W Tang and Raphael Jansa from Hong Kong, Takeshi Kito from Japan, Chonladet Khemarattana from Thailand, Byambasuren Myagmartseren from Mongolia, Shakeel Rashid from Singapore, and representatives from VietFintech (Vietnam Fintech Club). The goals of this MOU include raising public awareness of FinTech-related fraud; establishing channels for sharing information and insights on anti-fraud; developing and promoting best practices in anti-fraud; and creating a unified cross-border approach to handle reported fraud incidents internationally. According to the Asian Scam Report 2024 published by the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), over 40% of Asians encounter scams monthly. Hong Kong and Thailand face scams most frequently, with up to 90% of its citizens facing scams once per month or more. Identity theft, investment fraud, and online platform scams are among the most common threats, bearing the brunt of a $688 billion scam burden in 2024 alone. Scammers are constantly evolving their techniques and utilizing new technologies such as AI and blockchain. Additionally, illicit funds are moving across borders. To effectively intercept these funds and combat fraud, a robust cross-border joint defense network is essential. This year, AFA is celebrating its first anniversary. This MOU marks a significant step in the collective action among AFA's 14 members. #AFA #AntiFraud #FinTechOn #FinTechOn2024 #FinTech #MOU FinTechOn 2024: FinTech Associations from 14 Asian Economies Sign MOU to Enhance Collaborations in Anti-Fraud https://lnkd.in/gJfBnSwC
