À propos
finres supports farmers to accelerate their climate resilience. The changing climate means farming must also change. Bringing together localized climate science data, advanced crop-specific agroeconomic modeling, and the most effective adaptation solutions, finres provides data to understand and mitigate climate risk in farming. Enabling the actions needed for more climate resilient farming is at the heart of finres’s mission to bridge the gap between the most advanced science and the implementation of solutions to make farms more resilient.

🌍 "€𝟭 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝘀 €𝟭.𝟰𝟬 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀." ⬇️ Our CEO and founder, Florent Baarsch recently shared his reflections at the Building Bridges and United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Global Roundtable in Geneva 🇨🇭. By unlocking these opportunities, we’re enabling investments in a resilient agricultural sector 🌱. ⬇️ #ClimateAdaptation #Finance #ClimateRisk #Agriculture #Innovation ⬇️
“𝐓𝐨𝐨 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧, 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.” I heard similar sentiments again and again this week at the Building Bridges and United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Global Roundtable in Geneva. 🇺🇳🇨🇭 I enjoyed participating in these critical discussions with financial institutions from around the world, and left the event reflecting on two key insights: 1️⃣ Perceived risk is stalling investment in climate adaptation, particularly in agriculture. 2️⃣ Financial institutions want to act on climate resilience but lack actionable information on the benefits. Taken together, these issues are a huge opportunity. At finres, we’re committed to equipping our partners with robust data to reveal the return on investment in adaptation measures. For instance, our recent white paper showed that €1 invested in adaptation measures in France yields €1.40 in benefits. We have conducted similar analyses for over 20 countries around the world. By bridging the gap between perceived risk and the reality of adaptation’s benefits, we are unlocking the opportunities to invest in a climate-resilient agricultural sector. Thank you to UNEP-FI for convening these important conversations. Together, we can turn the ambition evident in Geneva this week into action. #adaptation #finance #risk #climatechange #agriculture

"𝗪𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗸𝗧𝗼𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻." ⬇️⬇️ At UNCCD COP16 for the SGI in Riyadh, our CEO and Founder, Florent Baarsch highlighted how data and funding can align to deliver targeted solutions for climate adaptation—unlocking a 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. ⬇️⬇️ Watch and read the full response here #ClimateChange #Adaptation #Finance #Agriculture
“We need the TikTok of adaptation”. My closing thought last week at the UN Convention to Combat Desertification COP16 in Riyadh for the Saudi Green Initiative forum. "TikTok has invested billions to make an algorithm that matches, in a few clicks, your preferences based on what you've been looking at on your phone. Why not do the same thing for adaptation? There is data, there is money available. We need the TikTok of adaptation, where it matches for example your crops, the future climate, and what is needed to provide the right adaptation option. There is a real opportunity in front of us and it's a trillion dollar opportunity.” It was an honour to speak as part of the high-level panel on “Adaptation Finance: Financial Models for Climate Vulnerabilities” alongside the fourth President of Senegal H.E. Macky Sall, UK Climate Envoy Rachel Kyte and Senior Climate Policy Specialist and GCF Board Member Mohammad Ayoub, to share how finres is providing the data and building the applications to realise this opportunity for agriculture. #climatechange #adaptation #finance #agriculture #tiktok #opportunity

“We need an entire rethinking of adaptation financing” - this was my message today as I spoke at the Saudi Green Initiative Forum as part of UNCCD COP16 in Riyadh 🇺🇳🇸🇦. 🎤Speaking as part of a high-level panel on “Adaptation Finance: Financial Models for Climate Vulnerabilities” alongside the Fourth President of Senegal Macky Sall, UK Climate Envoy Rachel Kyte and Senior Climate Policy Specialist and GCF Board Member Mohammad Ayoub, I shared insights from finres work providing the necessary information to support investments in agricultural resilience.🌾🌍 It was an opportunity to explain how using data and AI can support the segmentation of adaptation financing, ensuring limited public funds can be spent where it is most effective while also catalyzing and enabling investment from the private sector: ➡️Fully profitable: engage and allow the commercial sector to lead. Some adaptation measures in agriculture, such as half-moon rainwater harvesting, yield very high returns, so why invest public money? ➡️Profitable but with some risks: guarantees and concessional loans can play a role as risk-sharing mechanisms. ➡️Not profitable but economy-wide, socially or culturally necessary: there are crops with limited local returns, but very strong social or cultural values, for example maize in some African countries. 🤝 To find out more about how finres is providing the data and building the applications in support of partners implementing adaptation in each segment please connect with us or leave a comment below.
