The One Planet network implements the 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP).
À propos
It is a global framework of action to enhance international cooperation to accelerate the shift towards SCP in both developed and developing countries. The framework supports capacity building, and facilitates access to technical and financial assistance for developing countries for this shift. The 10YFP aims at developing, replicating and scaling up SCP and resource efficiency initiatives, at national and regional levels, decoupling environmental degradation and resource use from economic growth, and thus increasing the net contribution of economic activities to poverty eradication and social development. The framework is meant to encourage innovation and cooperation among all stakeholders. Interested actors from all countries can be involved in the implementation of the 10YFP activities: government, private sector, civil society, researchers, UN agencies, financial institutions, and other major groups. 10YFP Objectives: - Accelerate the shift towards SCP, supporting regional and national policies and initiatives. - Contributing to resource efficiency and decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation and resource use, while creating decent jobs and economic opportunities and contributing to poverty eradication and shared prosperity. - Mainstream SCP into sustainable development policies, programmes and strategies, as appropriate, including into poverty reduction strategies. - Support capacity building and facilitate access to financial and technical assistance for developing countries, supporting the implementation of SCP activities at the regional, sub-regional and national levels. - Enable all stakeholders to share information and knowledge on SCP tools, initiatives and best practices, raising awareness and enhancing cooperation and development of new partnerships – including public-private partnerships.

As public procurement accounts for a significant portion of a country’s GDP, usually around 20%, encouraging sustainable practices in procurement is important for the government to reach its sustainability goals. One successful practice is the use of ecolabels and environmental certifications as transparent, scientific tools for sustainable procurement. They provide clear criteria and methods for verifying compliance, helping governments streamline their sustainable purchasing processes. ➡️ Are you interested in knowing more about the topic? Check here a webinar organized by the UNEP through the Consumer Information Programme and the EcoAdvance project: https://lnkd.in/erkEX4rC ➡️ To read more SPP policies using ecolabels, access here some good practices on the topic (available in English and Spanish): https://lnkd.in/eJv55Jez These materials are part of a series from the One Planet network's Consumer Information Programme and the EcoAdvance project, a joint effort by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, UN Environment Programme, the Oeko-Institut e.V., funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection and International Climate Initiative. 📢 Get Involved! At #COP29 the Glasgow Declaration for Climate action in Tourism played a central role in supporting the UN Climate Change COP29 Tourism Day! For the first time in the history of the UNFCCC COPs, COP29 featured a Tourism Day, with a First Ministerial Meeting dedicated to positioning tourism policy to support national climate goals. In Baku, public and private sector leaders recognized the significant impact of climate change on the tourism sector and its contribution to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. At the same time, they emphasized tourism's potential to actively foster climate adaptation and regeneration strategies. This landmark achievement is the result of a collaboration between the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UN Tourism, with UN Environment Programme's support, within the framework of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism (GD). The Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism is an initiative of the One Planet network's Sustainable Tourism Programme, jointly led by UN Tourism and UNEP. Its objective is to support the tourism sector in implementing the Paris Agreement. The Glasgow Declaration continues to advance with more than 370 action plans already developed by its 900 signatories. Key Takeaways from the Glasgow Declaration Implementation Report 2024 released at UNFCC COP29, that included: ✅ 74% of signatories with climate plans are measuring ✅ 92% of plans include decarbonization actions ✅ 73% of plans include actions related to biodiversity protection ✅ 41% of plans include climate adaptation actions ✅ 29% of plans refer to climate justice During COP29, the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan and Minor International signed the Glasgow Declaration and a further 58 new signatories were announced, including Destination Canada, the Department for Tourism in Samarkand Region (Uzbekistan), HOTREC - Hotels, Restaurants & Cafés in Europe, among others. ➡️ Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/e9EZMxst ➡️ Glasgow Declaration for Climate Action in Tourism: https://lnkd.in/e5uVUjRD Zoritsa Urosevic

The One Planet network - 10YFP recently featured a newsletter highlighting an impactful video on ecolabels, created by Channel One in collaboration with the Ecological Union. This video, aired during World Ecolabel Day, showcases an excellent example of cost-effective communication. Titled "The Pursuit of Sustainability: What Does an Ecolabel Guarantee for Consumers?", the segment aired in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region of Russia, reaching an audience of over 5 million. Experts educated viewers on how to identify authentic eco-friendly products by focusing on the value of ecolabels, such as those from GEN members like the Vitality Leaf, Nordic Swan, EU Ecolabel, and ecolabels from Japan and Korea. The segment also spotlighted the Ecolabel Guide mobile app, a tool for verifying label credibility. Russian manufacturers shared their successes with ecolabel certification: TECHNONICOL Corporation, which produces Vitality Leaf-labeled insulation at nine factories, and Glorus-Nord, the country’s largest dishwasher product manufacturer, which supplies Lenta Life dishwasher tablets for the Lenta retail chain.
