Institutions rise and fall with individuals. The sustainability and legacy of an institution largely depends on the commitment with which individuals serve the institution. Higher institutional energy existed when the governance models are marked by workshops, webinars, conferences, symposia and publications. Impersonal governance models need to find life through deep personal commitment. This can be achieved through personal interactions, spending time together to think about common good and seeking to find happiness in every job assigned. The corollary is that lack of commitment, inability to work in teams, inertial at work place results in institutional decay.

Think of your organization as an orchestra - each department playing its unique instrument. Based on established architectural patterns, the most innovative companies create "harmony" through structured cross-functional collaboration frameworks like TOGAF's ADM. Don't just brainstorm; implement capability-based planning to systematically identify and bridge creative gaps. Try the "innovation marketplace" approach: regular architecture review boards where departments "trade" ideas and capabilities. It's about creating systems that naturally cultivate creativity, not forcing it. #EnterpriseArchitecture #Innovation

I go back to basics and define innovation - we creating something new? Are we up-levelling or are we disrupting the industry and doing it in a new way? I challenge them to think through the current practice and take them on the customer journey and the administrative Journey to step-by-step think about what can be done differently. How can this be made Easier to do every day? I find successfully examples from parallel industries and review huge failures of companies that didn’t innovate. Used correctly fear can be a good motivator. I put different work teams together, people that don’t usually connect in duos to think outside of their usual box to spur new thinking as they learn each other’s role and find new avenues to contribute.
