The first venture against mental illness – "EU's silent pandemic" Fatigue syndrome/illness among other things from exposure at work Brussels 7 June 2023 The European Commission wants to shine a light on mental illness and is investing over one billion euros in the first European strategy in the area. Work-related suicides are increasing globally 🌍 as a result of deteriorating working conditions. This is shown by studies from the USA, France, Great Britain, Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, India and Taiwan. Point of view: Also in the case of ill-health/exhaustion syndrome from exposure at work such as abusive discrimination, bullying, harassment, defamation and ostracism in the workplace. This is a global 🌍 issue!

Norway is in the process of creating a new strategy for digitalisation. Luckily other countries close to Norway have succeeded quite well in this area. Even ChatGPT knows which ones (and it's not US and UK that we like to look at): Countries with Notable Results in Public Sector Digitalisation Estonia: Estonia is widely regarded as a leader in digital government. It consistently ranks high in digital government indexes. Finland: Finland's digitalization efforts emphasize open data, digital public services, and citizen engagement. It has a robust digital infrastructure and strong emphasis on cybersecurity. South Korea: South Korea has a highly advanced digital government system, with extensive e-government services, smart city initiatives, and a focus on integrating AI and big data into public services. Conclusion Building a successful national public sector digitalization strategy requires a clear vision, strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, robust policy frameworks, modern infrastructure, and continuous capacity building. I love it when someone has been passionate to study a topic that makes a difference and then simplifies is to us others. Svante Randlert has done a tremendous job during the last 6 years and interviewed 100 Scandiavian top-level leaders to find out their ”klokfaktorerna”. I listed to his webinar on the topic and have to admit that this was one of the best presentations about this topic. Really nice examples and concrete points. He also gave homework and questions to help out to develop each factor. What are those ”klokfaktorerna”? I am not trying to translate those into English. But here they are in Swedish: 1. This discussion centered around the Finnish government's plans to allow certain medications to be sold in grocery stores. As someone who works in the pharmacy field, she shared her insights and experiences regarding the critical role pharmacists play in ensuring our health and safety. Pharmacies are more than just places to pick up medications. They are sources of knowledge, care, support, and a listening ear. My wife often shares touching stories about patients who walk through the doors seeking guidance and comfort during challenging moments. This personal connection is irreplaceable; it’s about more than just transactions—it’s about compassionate care that can profoundly impact lives. In Finland, the plan to sell medications in grocery stores aims to increase accessibility, but it raises important questions about patient safety. Would you go to a grocery store for medical advice when you can consult a pharmacist who has devoted years to understanding complex health issues? While there is merit in making medications more widely available, we must also consider the potential for misuse. Greater accessibility may lead to increased risks, especially for medications that require careful monitoring. It's essential to strike a balance between convenience and safety. In contrast, the Netherlands has retail drugstores that sell over-the-counter medications. While these establishments provide convenience, they often lack the personalized support and expertise that pharmacies offer. The difference is significant: grocery stores may sell medications without the necessary guidance, whereas retail drugstores in the Netherlands still offer a degree of pharmaceutical care, though less than a traditional pharmacy. Some may think this change is only about vitamins and a few other medications, but what happens in the future if we start down this path? As we broaden what can be sold outside of pharmacies, we must consider the implications for more complex medications and the potential impact on patient safety. The healthcare system in Finland is already going through challenging times, and it’s vital to remember that the expertise pharmacists provide is crucial for making informed health decisions. They are not just dispensers of medicine; they are trusted partners who care deeply about our well-being. Let’s continue to cherish and support the invaluable role pharmacies play in our communities. Milla has type 3. Usher syndrome, which is very rare disease. Usher syndrome is characterized by progressive loss of vision and hearing. Milla describes here what everyday life was like before, when she couldn't see or hear. She was dependent on the help of others and could not handle many things herself, such as phone calls. Today, Milla can hear with the help of cochlear implants, which she has in both ears. Milla got her hearing back after she decided to undergo cochlear implant surgery. Thanks to cochlear implants, she can now use various aids that help her live more independently. Using her smartphone, she can stream audio directly to her speech processors. She tells us about the apps she uses to cope with her daily life independently. This would not have been possible if she had not taken the step of getting a cochlear implant. Apps can scan and read what Milla can't see directly into her speech processors via streaming. Open AI is at risk of imploding There seems to be a mismatch in the values and principles required to build AGI(safety first, honesty ( scarlet Johansson issue)) vs how the leadership is operating right now. Hence, there have been some high profile exits as well. A similar saga played out at Boeing where safety issues led to the depletion of a whopping 46B of shareholder value.. They have asked their outgoing CEO to continue with a 33M pay package. Which seems outlandish but when you compare the loss of shareholder value it doesn't seem much right now if they can fix things. It's not too late tho for open ai tho. They need to strengthen their culture, values and principles that are conscious and aligned for the success of open AI vs any individual. Safety has to be the #1 priority. #openai

The Divorced Real State Journey Of Life Divorce hits hard on ones life in many ways, but it hits even harder on women's finances. According to an study conducted by the Australian Institute of Family Studies analyzing The economic consequences of divorce in six OECD countries, "divorce has a substantial negative effect on women's equivalised household incomes, at least in the short term, and that the negative effect of divorce on women's financial living standards is larger, on average, than that on men's financial living standards. The analysis of longitudinal data collected in the UK, Germany, Australia, Korea, the USA and Switzerland during the 2000s, while generally consistent with the findings from the existing literature, reveals that the effect of divorce differs between the six countries included in this study. In all of the countries studied divorce had, on average, negative effects on the equivalised household incomes of women. However, the extent and duration of the negative effects of divorce differed markedly between countries." I joined the 1.6 per 1,000 people that where divorced in 2022. Based on the collected data for 56 countries, the average crude divorce rate in the world was about 1.8 per 1,000 people in 2023.
