🌞 Summer time is operations time, so I want to reflect on our implementation of OKRs   I absolutely love the variety that my job at kopa ventures offers, but it’s easy to get lost in the multitude of tasks and topics you’re juggling simultaneously. This is why it is key to have the right tools and processes in place to stay organized 🎯 Since my time at Kyon Energy, I’ve become a big fan of the #OKR (Objectives and Key Results) framework, here is why:   - Clear Focus: OKRs help you zero in on the topics that truly matter. - Alignment and Ownership: They foster a clear alignment and understanding within the team, along with well-defined responsibilities. - Progress Overview: With OKRs, you always have a continuous overview of the progress on the topics you’re working on.   However, I must admit, implementing OKRs can be challenging. It requires patience until the process is fully established and lived in the team, but the results are definitely worth it!   My learnings are:   - Align mutual understanding and expectations within the team - Get the full commitment of the management team - Get everybody involved in setting up the OKRs - Be patient and learn in iterations - Book recommendation: Measure What Matters by John Doerr - Tool recommendation: monday.com   A big thank you goes to Matthias Gruber for showing me best practices in implementing and living OKRs💡 If you also work with OKRs, I’d love to hear about your experiences and any hands-on learnings you might have to share.

A few weeks ago, I started to improve my Frontend Web-developing skills on the Scrimba platform, and this was one of the first solo-excercises. The topic was to make hometown homepage website, and I chose to make small info page of Helsinki. The purpose of the exercise was to get used to HTML-language and CSS-styling. Nothing special but the purpose was to gain so called "muscle memory" for styling. I included some not needed features, e.g. favicon and hover effects, and also found a way to implement sticky backround image. There might be too much code in stylesheet and certainly there is a way to make css shorter so I have to keep practising. But great course, and excited to continue next module which is called Interactive Websites and comes with Java Script concepts. I've only completed 10% of the course so far, so I need to stay diligent in the coming days. Thanks for Scrimba and especially to Per Borgen for wonderful style of teaching. This is the first demo of our autonomous sales AI agent. To build this product we are using crewAI. Together with Agon, when AI kinda started, I wrote to him if he would like to create AI products as side projects on our free time, we met, and ever since we work on our free time and meet every Tuesday at 5pm for updates and next steps. The autonomous sales AI agent idea was from my other startup Worki where I had to do sales outreach myself, and I had to spend 2 hours prospecting and sourcing the leads, and then another 2 hours doing outreach. While it was important for us, because we wanted to find our first B2B client it was time consuming, repetetive, and boring. Then after a couple of months I found DuxDash and automated this process. I loved this tool. Now with our autonomous sales AI agent we think onboarding, prospecting, sourcing, outreach, and metrics can be done in a way that wasn’t imaginable before. That’s what we are creating now. I’ll share product updates along the way. The next one will probably be the sales outreach agent. It will go to the sourced profiles and send them a connection note. I kind of want to build this product with the users for the users, so I’m open to having user interviews and demos to hear your feedback, and iterate and iterate to a product that initially 10 customers love. The Finnish have 40 unique words for different types of snow and frozen precipitation. Can't we do better than “bootstrapped” and “VC-backable” to talk about our companies? I go to all these different events and talk to a lot of founders. 99% tell me they are bootstrapped or looking for VC funding. That’s it. We’re missing whole categories of funding types. We can do better than that. Here’s two: 💰 CUSTOMER LED / PROFIT GROWTH – You are growing your company at the speed you add new customers. As you earn a margin you put it back into your sales and marketing. Amazing businesses that don’t necessarily need outside capital. It may be slow, but it's not going in the red. 💰 1 AND DONE – I like this one from Greg Isenberg. You have customer led growth, but you want to grow faster. You approach investors to fuel the growth, but not to become a unicorn. The intention is to get a round of funding and stop. From there you pay dividends from the profits. The key here is really concentrating on getting dividends out. We can keep the old words. Bootstrapping can be reserved for those who are using their own capital to fund them until the first sales are made. VC-backable stays with the <5% of companies who are aiming for unicorn status. I know there are investors who want to find unique investments in founders they believe in. There are investors with different priorities. We need to talk differently so we aren’t trying to shoehorn every early stage business into saying they have some massive TAM and are going to be a unicorn. How else can we talk about these businesses so investors can find and fund them properly?

Did you know companies with solid cultures can outperform their competitors by as much as 2x? That's something I experienced firsthand. Pride can be both a positive and negative trait. Sometimes we have to put it aside, especially when it comes to our children. What the numbers say: The deal value increased despite a dip in deal count on both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year basis. The Nordic region was the most active European startup ecosystem, attracting €5.8B ($6.2B) in Q1, followed by France and the Benelux region with €3.4B ($3.6B). Relevance: Swedish green steel producer H2 Green Steel’s €4.75B ($5B) funding round was the largest round to close this quarter in Europe. After two years of retreat, non-traditional investors increased their dealmaking, participating in 721 deals worth €13.5B ($14.4B), representing 37% of the total deal value. The increase in VC funding came despite a tepid exit environment, with only 215 VC-backed exits reported in Q1 worth €1.9B ($2B). 47 funds collectively raised about €4.6B ($4.9B) from investors in the first quarter of this year, putting it on track to surpass last year’s tally.
