A compact history of Doublepoint: 2020: Company founded under the stealth name Port 6. We raised our pre-seed and started to build a gesture recognition wristband. First patents filed. 2021: The year of the metaverse. We pivoted to making gesture recognition software. Went on stage at Slush for the first time to show our first product: Touch SDK. 2022: The metaverse hype dropped off. We focused on improving the core technology. Jamin went on the Slush stage to show how we think about the future of interaction. We raised our seed round. 2023: Our core technology improved enough for us to start commercializing. We rebranded to Doublepoint. First proper press visibility. First revenue. We went on the main stage at Slush to launch our Evaluation Kit. Everyone started to talk about AI. 2024: Launched WowMouse, WowMouse AR, and WowMouse Presenter - user base grew from 200 to 80.000+, and to over 1000 on Touch SDK. Revenue grew 10x from previous year. Dozens of press articles were written. Use cases expanded to AR, AI assistants, wearables, automotive, IoT, TV, robotics, and others. Meta, Apple, and Samsung launched gesture recognition technology in their wearables. This year again, I will be going on the Slush stage. Not to launch anything new this time, but to talk about what we've learnt as an originally student-founded deep tech company, who decided to do the research needed in this industry not in academia before founding the company, but within the company. And how recently we've turned the company from a research-focused company into a commercially led company. And finally, how we are ready to tackle 2025 with: - 18 incredible colleagues - More than 7 million euros in funding to date - 4 patent families granted, and more pending - Several ongoing client projects, and first Doublepoint-powered partner products shipping as soon as 2025 Welcome to join the session within Deep Tech showcase. You might also see a new live demo on stage. ;)

We're hiring a Senior Interaction Designer!!
This is a special one for me. ✨🎁 We're hiring a Senior Interaction Designer in my department at Doublepoint. There is a rare chance to jump on the train of shaping next-generation input. Super exciting challenges ahead in a fast-paced deep-tech startup based in Finnland Helsinki 🇫🇮 Our team is growing 🧚 and so are the challenges. We need more interaction power to speed up the process, help guide the team in the right direction, and shape the future together. 🚀 You'll work closely with our machine learning and user research squad and explore new ways of input using micro-interactions 👌 for most recent AR glasses 🥽, on-watch use cases ⌚️, control of third-party devices 📺 and more. Hit the repost button to share this with your network and to support us. 🙏 Also share this with your interaction buddies. We can't wait for your application! Feel free to hmu if you have questions or need more insights. Thanks for your support! 🩵

When we launched WowMouse at CES earlier this year, we were amazed by the uptake and community support around it. Nearly 80,000 users have downloaded WowMouse, turning their existing smartwatch in to a gestural controller to control peripherals like computers, TVs and AR headsets. Last week we launched WowMouse Presenter, an app with a productivity focus that has your smartwatch replace a presentation remote. Using simple & intuitive gestures to control your slides, you can now focus on your presentations and not have to worry about carrying along accessories or worrying about charging them. This is our first product to deploy our 'double tap' gesture. We support connectivity with all compute platforms and all presentation software With WowMouse Presenter we aim to achieve two things: 1) Continue to build on the interest around gesture-first products 2) Push the envelope on what's possible when lightweight gesture recognition models are available to 3rd party developers. We envisage a whole array of new use cases and applications, and this is just the start. A few weeks ago, Meta showcased their gesture control wristband at the Meta Connect 2024 event. We were happy and proud to see the technology behind Meta's wristband see daylight, which actually inspired us to found Doublepoint in the first place, when Jamin was looking for technology to make a gesture detection wristband. During the last year, we've seen several big tech companies introduce gesture controllers for the wrist, including Apple and Samsung for smartwatch control, and now Meta for augmented reality. Bringing the power to the user through effortless and intuitive input is a mission we need several companies to work on. Having Meta join the work provides a stamp of approval to the general direction we are headed towards together. Meta's technology is different to Doublepoint in the way that Meta has decided to build their wristband using special muscle activation sensors. A big drawback for this approach is that Meta needs to introduce a new wristband for people to wear and charge. So if you already have a smartwatch, that's two different wristbands to wear. And what if you want to control your TV at your home with gestures? Do you introduce a new wristband for that too, or will Meta enable you to control a TV as well with their wristband? Doublepoint's approach enables users to control whatever device you like, including augmented reality, TV, lights, car media, and more using your smartwatch. Our proprietary algorithm used by over 75.000 people today to control the devices around them, utilizes the sensors found already on the watch. We believe the most convenient way for users to use gestures is to have gesture detection capability shipped with the smartwatch of their choice. This is what we are enabling at Doublepoint. We are on the mission for new watches to ship with gesture capability, equivalent to that of Meta's gesture set, enabling a wide range of use cases through an app ecosystem. #gestures #wristband
