Gift Acceptance:
Family Equality will accept unrestricted gifts and gifts for specific programs and projects, provided that such gifts are consistent with Family Equality’s mission, vision, and values and that acceptance of the gift does not violate applicable law. Gifts with the least restrictions are the most desirable, as unrestricted funds allow the organization to address its most pressing needs.
Family Equality holds the right to discuss, examine, and, if necessary, decline donations. Family Equality reserves the right to determine how a gift will be credited and/or recognized.
Family Equality will consider the following factors when considering whether to solicit or accept gifts:
- Values – whether accepting the gift compromises any of the values of Family Equality or impedes or dictates future work and activities.
- Public Relations and Trust – whether accepting the gift would damage our reputation, expose us to liability or adverse publicity, or endanger the public’s trust in Family Equality’s mission and work.
- Effect on Future Giving – whether accepting the gift would encourage or discourage future gifts.
