There's a dangerous trend emerging on here. Agency founders, who by their profiles seem to manage huge monthly Facebook ads budgets, giving completely incorrect blanket advice to 'smaller' eCommerce brands in their posts 😰 If you're not managing ad spends under $50k a month (this seems to be the benchmark), don't give advice on strategy at that level of spend 🙈 If you predominantly run ads in the USA, your ad strategy will be different in the UK and Europe. Also, Advantage+ Shopping Campaigns are not performing well across many smaller accounts at the moment, so telling a smaller brand to 'go all in' into those campaigns is just irresponsible. Achieving profitable returns is much more challenging on smaller budgets and is never achieved by applying the same strategy to every business. I’m really concerned about the state of digital PR. Even after the big Google algo leak this week that reveals that links are one of many important ranking signals still - s/o to Michael King for breaking that down so digestibly in his article (link in comments). Anyway, back to my original point.. Over the last few years as digital PR has seen a massive boom as a consequence of the impact of Covid, many more agencies and freelancers are now offering varying qualities of digital PR. And the problem with that is it drives the prices down. Brands might be thinking that’s amazing, we want a much better cost per link, it means we can afford to pay for many more links. However, what generally happens is that the quality of those links (if the agency can even build that quantity of links) suffers as agencies just care about hitting a link KPI, and brands in many cases don’t see much positive impact on rankings and traffic as a consequence. And this is because those agencies aren’t thinking about relevance, they’re not thinking about the brand and they’re not thinking strategically about where those links point to on the clients site for maximum impact. Now, add in the mess that Google has created this year for many brands and you have the perfect storm. Brands and SEOs scrambling around for hundreds of links immediately, often with a trial campaign, expecting to see measurable impact asap. And the truth is, mostly it doesn’t work like that. Digital PR is a long term tactic, its about quality of links, not quantity, it’s about gaining relevant links and showcasing expertise to build brand trust. It should never be just about hitting an arbitrary link KPI, otherwise its probably money down the drain. Instead, invest in an agency that can deliver a strategy that shows you HOW they are going to leverage your brand and expertise to build links that are genuinely useful - that point to relevant pages, commercial pages, where you can easily measure the value of those links. Trying to save money by choosing an agency that can offer you the most links at the lowest price is going to leave you very disappointed with nothing to show for it at the end of that term. Like everything in life, you get what you pay for. Digital PR should be treated as an investment in your brand - being known and your ability to be found in search, it’s not something you should scrimp on for the sake of a few more links or to improve a CPL. #digitalpr #seo

THIS JUST HAPPENED ON A CALL TODAY 🫠 GA4 was showing 17k in income BUT Stripe was showing 5k for that same period...this is a founders nightmare Tracking sucks - no one likes it But it's super important Before you begin launching any new campaigns or hiring a new Head of Growth make sure your tracking is working fine It's super easy to do it - simply use a tool like TripleWhale, PolarAnalystics or Cometly (there are tonnes of others too). Get your data right before spending a cent on ads Because if your tracking is not right then it doesn't matter if you have the best agency in the world working for you You're fishing in the dark...and your business won't grow properly (But seriously how can you run a business without knowing your metrics)

I'm runnig ads on Facebook since 2012. Here's my default settings for 2025: Meta has been hard at work this year talking you into Advantage+ "Recommend adjustment" "33% lower CPI" "Tailored" ... Yet from a performance perspective it's suicide to follow their recommendations. Meta optimizes for an upper funnel proxy NOT actual business outcomes: - they optimize for the wrong audience - they scale subpar ad creatives - they concentrate spend & risk It's our job as marketers to learn to guide the algorithm without restricting it. Study algorithmic decisions. And question them at every step. -------- REPOST to support the app growth community. No gatekeeping.

So many E-Com founders have agency trauma, and I completely get it. It’s mind-blowing how some agencies treat their clients. We’ve seen accounts where nothing has changed for six months. They even removed the PPC tool without telling the client, just to save costs and pocket more profit. Total scammy behavior. And this was for a high seven-figure seller! E-Com founders, do your due diligence before signing with an Amazon agency. You don’t want an agency that sees you as a quick cash grab. You need someone who’s in it for the long haul. So, who should you trust? Look for agencies that actually care about your bottom line. This is my co-founder and me, drinking Aperol and working on a sunny Sunday, having the time of our lives. Why? Because we were working on an insane idea that could double the profit for our client over the next 12 months. We don’t track hours. We don’t bill for extra stuff. We just execute to our insanely high level of standard (typical German behavior btw). And that’s it.

Earlier this year I met up with a client at their HQ in Spain. We've increased their client acquisition by 113% with SEO & Paid Ads. Here's what we did in 5 steps: Step 1: Audited their customer avatar → Where do they “hang out” online? → What are they searching for? → What pain points do they have? -- Step 2: Audited their current marketing strategy → Is it generating revenue? (It was, but barely) → Where are the prospects dropping out in the funnel? (After their first interaction) → What is their cost per acquired customer? (Very high—£7500) → What does their prospect journey flow look like? (Click on the website, look, and click off) → Are they nurturing prospects during this journey? How often should you review your Google Ads accounts? This is one of the most frequently asked questions I receive when onboarding new clients, and for good reason. With Google's new AI features and changes to match types pushing users towards broad match, it's crucial to actively review the 'search terms' your business is showing up for. Of course, my answer often falls to the age-old "it depends." Small accounts with fewer search terms may not need as much review as larger accounts running multiple tests to push through different phases of the customer journey. Our rule of thumb is to check an account every 3 days or so. The main things we look at when we review campaigns on this schedule are the search terms report, focusing on these two items: 1. Negative keywords to add that have no relevance to our clients' products/services 2. Long-tail search terms that we can add to our ad groups to better personalize our campaigns We then follow a weekly, monthly, and 60-day checklist with more granular items to check. This doesn't mean constantly fidgeting and tweaking your campaigns. It's just a way for us to keep a pulse on campaign performance and guide them to success rather than making massive daily changes. In this case, we were seeing low click-through rates on the main CTA button so we decided to opt for a question that makes more sense considering the stage of the funnel the potential customer is currently in. They simply aren't ready to "get their product now" but might be willing to find out more by first tailoring the product offering to their dog size. we went from “Get mine now!” to “Select dog size”. And to be honest, it paid off generously: ✅ +14.08% on CVR ✅ +3.01% on ATC

PREDICTION on Adam Robinson (This will be embarrassing if I'm completely wrong here) Adam is going to enter the info game with the aim of growing RB2B with negative CAC (the holy grail). In B2B this is mostly unheard of but is a common goal in internet marketing. Adam knows how to get attention: he's a successful founder, has unique POVs, and sometimes ruffles a few feathers—perfect ingredients for virality. Here's what I predict: - Adam gets into the info game (information products, e.g. courses) - The inbound-led outbound weekly series gets a makeover and becomes a full-blown internet marketer-scale live webinar (a la Alex Hormozi, Russell Brunson and Nathan Latka). I'm talking studio-level production. - On this webinar, he'll deliver a no-brainer offer where he wraps an info product (e.g., $0 to $1m secrets) and RB2B together. Either paid upfront to acquire his full CLTV or free/low-cost as a tripwire with recurring revenue from RB2B on the backend. Of course, one of the strategies used in that info product is RB2B. I haven't pulled this out of thin air. Adam recently showed appreciation for Russel (his products use the word "secrets"), he's been validating demand for a course with his audience, and he's currently working on a "new GTM strategy". My thoughts on this: - It can work very well if you're targeting founders in micro-SMB or consumers, I know many people that liquidate CAC via this approach. It's tougher if you're targeting non-founder personas due to risk appetite and eroded trust with what's known as a 'guru' approach. Yet to see this successfully executed outside of these personas. My understanding is that RB2B mostly targets founders, so this could work very well for them. - It has a HIGH probability of backfiring. Even though they absolutely work, many people hate courses because success rates in business are low. Knowledge has to be applied to become an advantage, and most people don't apply it well. This could attract negative word of mouth for Adam and RB2B as brands (most internet marketing personalities eventually disappear due to this backlash). - Due to my first point, I've seen this approach create high-churn customers. Pre-PMF companies aren't ideal customers because software isn't going to fix their problems. Interested to see how this is solved. ...or I could be completely wrong on all of this. What kind of businesses do you want to work with? 2. Good messaging - This is where effective copywriting comes in! What message does your ideal prospect need to hear to be compelled to respond? 3. Right media - Why do you think FB ads will be the solution you need? Facebook is just one of many media channels for delivering your marketing message. Consider where your ideal prospects spend their time. That's where you should invest your money. Once you've clearly established all three components: Start with a small-scale testing method to validate your research before making significant investments. We need to hold agencies accountable for paying creators on time. The amount of late payments from agencies I have experienced recently is astronomical. Industry standard is net 30. If you’re lucky net 15 and if you’re even luckier you can negotiate an upfront payment/ deposit. Now I have seen a rise of data driven creative agencies with net 45 + net 60 payment terms taking another 30 days to actually pay. This is absolutely unacceptable… I always push back on net 45 and rarely agree to net 60 unless talent genuinely love the brand. We need to have a lot more serious conversation about brands paying agencies on time + agencies paying creators on time. Obviously it’s not always on the agency but often times it is…
