Recently we were in Barcelona, talking about health revolution with Barcelona Health Hub. So many new technologies and obesity still growing. In Spain, obesity by province ranged 13.3–27.4% in men and 11.4–28.1% in women; excess weight ranged 57.2–76.0% in men and 38.9–59.5% in women Imagine! some regions has 76% people with excess weight. We could show statistics about our data-driven weight loss program. Increasing adherence to the program in 5x is not a lucky guess, it is behavior science with human physiology. One of the most beautiful aspects of reading #literature is the freedom to imagine connections between what you read and how it resonates with your thoughts. Communication has so much transformative power and enables people to connect even when the senses are not on their side. It takes great courage for the heroes in Greek Lessons, a novel by this year's Nobel laureate, Han Kang, I recently read and enjoyed a lot. Another memorable fact about the book, more relatable to me as a Greek, is how the author describes virtue or arete/arete as "the capacity for excellence." In a world where the need for transformation, acceptance, and embracing diversity can change the lives of millions worldwide, the power of communication can make this transformation happen. #communications

Paying €5,000 to DJ at a festival? There is anger in the music world about an Ibiza festival that's charging artists to perform. But it's worth understanding why it's happening, because it also applies to business conferences too. In 2024 there is an OVERSUPPLY of people with something to say (authors, speakers, DJs, stand up comedians) and a relative UNDERSUPPLY of people to actually listen to them. It's interesting to see how the audience has become the valuable thing: 💰 If you are Seth Godin or Brené Brown and you're bringing the audience with you, yes – you will get paid. (Steven Bartlett's speaking fee was £80k last time I checked.) 😬 But if you are benefiting from that audience, you probably won't get paid at all. In fact, you might even be asked to pay to get stage time.* People get VERY upset about this. "I don't work for free! I don't work for exposure!" I can understand the sentiment. But the problem is – if you don't have an audience of your own, you are always going to be borrowing somebody else's. And in 2024 it's increasingly unlikely that people will let you do that AND pay you for it. This is very different to how it used to be. The best advice would seem to be: build your own audience. The river runs the other way now 🤷‍♂️ *We don't do this, but I can see why it happens.

Today marks the tenth anniversary of Philip VI of Spain’s proclamation (no, kings are not crowned in Spain). This is the anniversary emblem. Monarchy is not a peaceful topic in Spain necessarily. But I chose to share this here not because of the politics (mine or anyone else’s) but because of the slogan the King has selected: “Service, commitment and duty” Those three words, to me, are the mark of a true, inspiring leader. I am a big fan of leaders who understand that their top mission is to serve: serve the company, serve their teams, serve their clients. Their goal is to find the best way in which to help others reach the milestones they are pursuing. Leaders are servants. The King is a servant of Spain, never has been shy about that. His entire life is one of service, for which he has paid a hefty price of almost all his feeedom. Commitment. When you are a leader, you need to singlemindedly gear all of your efforts to the achievement of success. Nothing outside your goal has any room within your vision width. You do everything that is needed and don’t do anything that is not needed. This does not men obsessed, workaholics leaders, it means leaders that are all in and care about the well-being of their employees as much as they care about proper logistics. Because they care about everything that will work in favor of what they are committed to. Duty. Duty is a forgotten word. An almost offensive word. There’s this undercurrent of popular culture that claims that things done out of duty are not worth doing. You should do what you want to do, not what someone else demands from you. I disagree. I think duty is a chivalrous word capable of lowering the tone of anger and brutality of hyper individualistic societies. Because duty reminds us that we’re not alone in the world. It remind us that people need us and that we have to respond to those expectations as much as reasonably possible because solidarity is the foundation on which good groupd work best. Duty: I know what is expected from me and I will deliver. Who doesn’t want their leader to provide that kind of trust: I’m here for you. Service, commitment, duty. A leadership class from a King whose role is symbolic, but as important as the rock on which the construction of the entire country rests. And while others are forever draining in the pit of dishonor, corruption, tricks on the law, insults, and nasty campaigns, this is the kind of leader Iveant and the kind of leader I always strive to be (not always succeeded, of course): one that serves, one thar commits, one that delivers o duty.
