Today is World Meditation Day. I am a dedicated proponent of meditation - which I have been practicing for over 35 years - as a very effective method, or rather evidence based systems, with a plethora of powerful proven benefits: - create a sense of calm and serenity - promote focus and concentration - control erratic thoughts and emotions - reduce feelings of depression or anxiety - maximize mental performance - increase general resilience - develop mindfulness - eliminate stress - manage chronic pain - slow down the heart rate - enhance the immune system - optimize breathing and oxygenation - improve posture (depending on the type of meditation technique). To begin, just be still … breathe calmly … and listen. In the widespread fixation with “optimization”, rather than overly complex approaches, perhaps just sitting quietly with ourselves for a few minutes might lead to the simplest yet most profound optimization we can do, anytime and anywhere: knowing ourselves.
dear Walter Gjergja, TAK! I like your unspectular approach, simply silently sitting still is a good start to discover in the end the silence within ourselves, our home base...🙏
