    Research Highlights
    - The paper proposes a new approach using a Genetic Algorithm for Predicting the Epitope Structure (GAPES).
    - The proposed tertiary structure prediction of epitopes in GAPES is based on Ab-initio Empirical Conformational Energy Program for Peptides (ECEPP) Force Field Model.
    - The prediction accuracy and the Area Under Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) Curve (AUC) were calculated as the performance measures.
    - GAPES achieved the highest prediction accuracy and  AUC compared to the other benchmarking methods in the Immune Epitope Data Base (IEDB) from El-Manzalawy benchmark dataset and HLA-DRB1*0101 allele of the Wang benchmark dataset.
    - Results showed that GAPES is a promising technique that will help the researchers and scientists in the intelligent design of new epitope-based vaccines and in the protein structure prediction.

Therefore, the identification of protein structure is a significant step towards understanding the protein's function which is an important role to synthesize new drugs and vaccine design; since many diseases are shown to result from malfunctioning of proteins. In this paper, we propose a new technique that is called Protein Tertiary Structure Prediction using Genetic Algorithm (PTSPGA) to predict the proteins structures based on their primary structure.

  • Fawry’s Big Data Platform Migration from Hortonworks HDP to Cloudera CDP

    Due to Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) was outdated and for upgrading purpose for most of our bigdata ecosystems and security tools, and to leverage the new features and capabilities of the enterprise Cloudera Data Platform (CDP). So that, we have planned the migration to CDP. My responsibilities in this project included:

So that, we have planned the migration to CDP. My responsibilities in this project included:
    - Working closely with Cloudera team during the project preparation, sizing, infrastructure building and planning.
    - Handle all technical requirements and communications with Cloudera, vendor teams and our organization.
    - Involved with Cloudera team during the platform installation, configuration and security setup activities.
    - Responsible for the CDP pre- and post-installation, configuration, and UAT activities.
    - Responsible of the Hortonworks data platform HDFS data migration to the CDP platform.
    - Responsible for Hive, airflow, HUE metadata, data pipelines and developed jobs migration from HDP to CDP.
    - Applying necessary security rules configuration and enabling security measures for the new CDP platform servers, services, applications, and migrated data, data pipelines and jobs, ensuring compliance for all CDP users and groups.
    - Ensuring the smooth running of all migrated data pipelines, processes, jobs, and applications in CDP.
    - Addressing any incompatibility issues, performing necessary enhancements, revamping, and fixing the migrated data pipelines to ensure seamless operation.

    - Responsible for analyzing Fawry’s different systems, data models and processes. re-engineering and design of the target data lake platform to store their row data, and building an enterprise DWH on top of this data lake.
    - Responsible for developing, configuring and executing work packages and setup of technology services components.
    - Analyzing and re-engineering Fawry’s old traditional DWH and the financial reconciliation process ETL jobsl in order to migrate them to new enterprise DWH in the bigdata platform.
    - Handle the installation, configuration, administration, and supporting of Hadoop ecosystem components under (Hortonworks Data Platform HDP 3.1).
    - Participated in the migration and revamping hundreds of BI reports and ETL Jobs to the new big data platform.
    - Ingest all the historical data to be used in the data analysis to support the data science machine learning models.
    - Working together with Fawry main business stockholders and cross-functional teams to address their requirements and support the daily operation with the needed data initiatives and building scalable data solutions.
    Platform and Tools:
    Hortonworks Data Platform HDP 3.1, and its stack: Apache Ambari, HDFS, YARN, MapReduce,
    Zookeeper, Hive, Ranger, Sqoop, Oozie, and Spark. As well as, Apache Hue and Airflow.

     The project covers many business areas and source systems, like: Customers Relationship Management, Customer Care, Billing, Payments, Resource inventory, Sales, Scratch cards life cycle, Call Detail Records (CDRs), Usage analysis, and Revenue to serve the company various departments and business users.

     The project was divided into four phases:

    The last phase focused on MSC & DAP CDRs, CDRs reconciliation, HLR, iHLR, IPCC, and other flat files source systems and integrates them into an enterprise DWH and developing about 80 different reports to serve the business needs.
    Duties and Responsibilities:-
    - Participated as BI team lead
    - Participated as source system analyst and DWH modeler.
    - Design and create some documentation such as, Source specification analysis and requirements, DWH model structure design, DWH mapping, reports design, and reports mapping.

    - Participated in testing and validating the DWH implementation and ETL development.
    - Participated in developing and maintaining many semantic layers (SAP BO Universes) to address the business needs and to enhance the ad-hoc reporting, as well as developing more than 80 reports to serve the business needs.
    - Participated in the UAT process with the customer and the delivery of the project phase.
