Mapping your customer journey is vital. 🗺️ Make sure that you create a visual map of your customer journey through your apps or products. If you don't understand your customer's journey from coming into your product to exiting your product and hitting all of the stages in between, you're not going to be able to design a great product. This can make a heck of a lot more sense if you consider, for example, a grocery store. In most cases, in most grocery stores, the commonly used items like eggs and milk and meat are at the back of the store. 🥚 The reason for this is because they want to draw you to the back of the store. The way that they know that is by creating a customer journey to see how often customers would come to one particular area. This is the customer journey through that store. In your app, people will come to the app, walk/move around, and then exit. My team has been doing this for quite some time, and it's been a fascinating experience – a mix of excitement and the healthy challenge of honest self-reflection. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙊𝙬𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 Traditionally, product development plans often dictate goals from above. While this ensures alignment with larger organizational objectives, it can sometimes feel disconnected from the day-to-day realities of PMs. By democratizing the process, PMs have the power to define their objectives and the criteria that signify success. This fosters a deeper sense of ownership and engagement. PMs become invested in achieving their goals, not just ticking boxes on a pre-defined checklist. 𝙃𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙎𝙚𝙡𝙛-𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 However, with this power comes a crucial challenge: honest self-assessment. Defining success criteria requires careful consideration.
