I think it just knocked The Wolf of Wall Street out of my all-time favorites. I also recently watched The Penguin, a Batman spin-off, which I highly recommend if you haven’t seen it yet—although I’m a big fan of the Batman universe, so I might be biased! The last one would be Saltburn, a psychological thriller about a lost student at Oxford University. That one gave me chills. – If you could have any musician, dead or alive, create an album for FreshTracks Music, who would it be and why? – No doubt it would be Kim Larsen. Since this casino had the potential to be now generating €2-3 million in monthly gaming revenue, but instead, it’s fading from the memory of the Finnish audience. Here are three opportunities that could have been seized: 1️⃣ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝘀 Some of the newer Finnish market challenger operators are missing the chance to build trust by being fully transparent with their promotions. Key details, like wagering requirements, are often hidden or buried. What some might consider eye-catching bonuses would be far more meaningful if players had immediate clarity on the true value or cost. The % or the € don't hold meaning without the X. To be blunt, I recommend to most online casinos ditching wagering altogether. In the past few months, I haven't interviewed a single Finnish player who likes to wager. Market disruptors such as Kanuuna.com are thriving, and they have no wagering offering. 2️⃣ 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 In recent times, A-tier operators have opted to remove the Finnish language from their platforms. However, this decision alienated a significant portion of Finns. 3️⃣ 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 Perhaps the greatest missed opportunity was the chance to forge a unique connection between Finnish culture and casino gaming. The rebranding of KalevalaKasino.com—a site that once brilliantly tied into Finnish heritage—to justwow.com erased a valuable cultural link, leaving players feeling distanced from the brand. Seeing that made me say, “Just wow… but not in a good way.” 😬

🎬 The Rise of Locally Produced Content in Nordic Countries Did you know that Nordic audiences are embracing locally produced entertainment like never before? In the second quarter of 2023, on average, a striking 8 out of 10 Nordic viewers expressed a preference for domestic content. Out of all Nordic countries, Sweden as the front runner, with an impressive 88% of viewers favoring regional productions. Recent findings from BB Media have revealed that the appetite for local content has continued to soar into the fourth quarter of 2023. On average, a remarkable 85% of Nordic viewers now lean towards homegrown productions. This inclination has consistently remained above 74% in all countries of the region across all quarters analyzed, indicating a profound commitment among Nordic audiences to narratives that mirror their own cultural experiences. Notably, Sweden remains at the forefront of this movement alongside Denmark, both boasting an impressive 88% audience preference for local productions.   📈 As the demand for local storytelling continues to thrive, content creators and industry players have a unique opportunity to tap into the fascinating Nordic culture and captivate audiences on a deeply personal level. ✨ FEED ME: This is very interesting - I just saw Filip Wallberg announce that Danish regional publisher, TV 2 FYN, has relaunched their frontpage as a feed of stories. The feed isn't new to publishers or users (we have been used to it from social platforms for ages) but a publisher of TV 2 Fyn's size and impact doing this is pretty spectacular. Obviously, a few things need to check out before a frontpage feed like this can make sense. You need to have a somewhat low cadence of stories published everyday - otherwise people will find it very hard to stay on top of things. You also need to be pretty clear on how you are sorting the feed. It is based on publication time (chronology), prioritization or something else (perhaps personalization)? Here, TV 2 Fyn doesn't really tell us anything (I know Jan has inquired about it) - so let's just assume that it's based on time of publication/update. This will be very interesting to watch. Back in 2022 Norway's Bare Åsane (a local covering the Åsane borough in Bergen) tried a similar approach - they stopped publishing in April 2023. That's not to say if won't work for TV 2 Fyn. Bare Åsane was, if I remember correctly, thought as an attemp at telling local news in a new way, whereas TV 2 Fyn is publicly funded. 💡 Curious? 🇸🇪 Swedish gaming operator AB Trav och Galopp says there remains a downward trend in the channelisation rate despite it stabilising in Q3. - https://lnkd.in/dKnrn7Xa ATG’s latest report puts the Swedish channelisation rate between 70 per cent and 82 per cent. Year-on-year, ATG’s estimated rate range has increased from between 68 per cent and 81 per cent. However, ATG noted that its forecast must be compared with the Swedish government’s target of 90 per cent. The operator said the unlicensed market is estimated to have a gross turnover of up to SEK150bn (£10.7bn). 🗣️ ATG CEO Hans Lord Skarplöth, who has criticised the gambling tax rise to 22 per cent, said it is "both unreasonable and counterproductive" to make "such high demands" of licensed companies when these "enormous sums escape regulation and control."
