Join Us at the UK Offshore Wind 2024 Conference in London! ⚡🌍   We are excited to announce that we will be participating in the 12th Annual UK Offshore Wind Conference, hosted by the Danish Embassy and the Danish-UK Association on 12 December 2024 in London.   As the UK government commits to increasing renewable energy production and quadrupling offshore wind power by 2030, this conference is pivotal for exploring the frameworks, projects, and technological advancements necessary to meet these ambitious targets.   We are proud to have Maria Alexandra Balslev Jørgensen, our Business Development Specialist, speaking on the crucial role of floating offshore wind in unlocking the potential of deep-water offshore wind. With her expertise in innovative offshore wind solutions, Maria has been instrumental in driving Semco Maritime's progress in floating and fixed-bottom substations. Have you been in Esbjerg lately? If so, you may have spotted bright yellow giants towering over the skyline! They aren’t just striking landmarks - they're crucial parts of a massive project we're proud to be part of - Dominion Energy's Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind! They are jacket foundations, designed to support offshore substations. Each jacket stands 55 meters tall with a footprint of approximately 40x50 meters and weighs in at 2,500 tons… 🏗️ Yes, that's seriously heavy! So heavy, in fact, that we had to reinforce the harbour and craft customized steel ramps to support the quay area as the first jacket was loaded onto the vessel last week at Port Esbjerg. Complex? Absolutely. But for our skilled team, it’s just another day at the office! The first jacket set sail on the BigLift Baffin last week, headed for Aalborg to pick up its topside (substation) before making the journey across the Atlantic to the coast of Virginia.🚢 Once 40 kilometres off the Virginia coast, the jackets will be installed on the seabed, and the huge topsides will be stacked on top. It’s going to be quite the sight! 🌍 We're incredibly proud of the positive impacts this project will bring: 🔸 Powering up to 660,000 households. 🔸 Eliminating up to 5 million tons of CO2 emissions annually. 🔸 Achieving a total capacity of 2.6 gigawatts. A True Legend Retires! 🎉   Yesterday, we celebrated the remarkable career of one of our true Semco Maritime legends, Erik Christensen Grønborg, as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement! 🙌   Erik's journey with us began in the early days of the Danish offshore adventure as a young Design Engineer working on major oil platforms in the North Sea. Over the years, his career took him around the world and back to Esbjerg, where he has been in charge of Market & Business Development in Denmark and the UK.   We are in awe of Erik's vast experience, we admire his positive spirit, and we appreciate the energy he always brought to both clients and colleagues. His many inspiring stories from "way back when" will be missed by everyone! 🌊 Baltica 2 Celebrates “First Cut”!   Today, we marked a significant milestone with the First-Cut Ceremony at PTSC M&C’s fabrication yard in Vung Tau City, Vietnam. This event officially kicks off the fabrication phase for the Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) substation platforms, a crucial part of one of the largest offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea and Europe.   In partnership with PTSC M&C, we are proud to be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and fabrication of 4 x 375 MW offshore substation platforms (OSS) and their module support frames. These primary structures will be fabricated at PTSC M&C’s yard, a key port city in southern Vietnam, and will play a vital role in safely and efficiently transmitting energy generated by offshore turbines to the national grid.   Today’s ceremony marked the start of the fabrication process, which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.   The ambitious Baltica 2 project is being developed by a joint venture between the Polish energy utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ørsted.   Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to advance sustainable energy solutions! 🌍💡 #semcomaritime #baltica2 #offshorewind #firstcut
