Three biggest learnings from a fundraising journey. Shared by Rainer Märkle, General Partner at HV Capital at EUVC 1/ Have a time box with a deadline attached. Have a defined horizon & create a clear plan. Have some urgency to get things done at some point. Execute very transparently and reliably. 2/ Stick to your narrative. But don't do it blindly. Tweak it when necessary. Adapt it. Don't let yourself be surprised by major changes. Keep focusing on delivering according to your strategy & plan. 3/ Fundraising is a marathon with many sprints. There are moments when you'll ask yourself - Why do I do this? Is it gonna work out? But don't get too negative during the down phases. Adapting and pivoting is part of our job. We are excited that Finom one of the leading fintech hyperscalers in Europe, decided to tackle bookkeeping and taxes by testing Norman’s embeddable solution. I’ve been wondering why the term hyperscalers is attributed only to large cloud service providers like Azure or AWS. After closing a Series A funding round, companies enter a pivotal phase where the right approaches significantly influence their journey toward Series B. In brutkasten, Jan Lozek and I recently shed light on the critical strategies companies should adopt after securing Series A funding. 👉🏻 Here are the more top priorities companies should focus on post-fundraise: 📈 Optimize cash flow:  Investors are particularly interested in startups that efficiently manage their cash flow, maximizing growth and revenue while keeping expenses in check. 💰 Show them the money: Show investors how exactly you are making money: real customers, real sales, economies of scale. In other words, show you have a plan and that the plan is working. To outline flexible sales models, and exchange various key parameters, will also be a win. 🚀 Partner up, big time: Leverage your existing networks instead of spending more capital. 👑 Earlybird Venture Capital and HV Capital are considered the best German venture capital funds across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. 🚀 finleap is considered the best FinTech investor, and Point Nine the best in B2B SaaS. 🙌 HTGF | High-Tech Gründerfonds ranks best on Perplexity for GenAI and HealthTech. While the results for "Overall" are quite stable, the sector-specific results have very high variance! Sector-specific funds like Merantix Capital, Laika Ventures, AI.FUND & Heal Capital appear more frequently in AI search results compared to Google search results. The models seem to use "activity" as a main criterion for "best," with many sources referencing the respective deal count of the funds. Gemini's sector-specific variance was so high that we did not include the results (about 25% of answers were not even venture capital funds). Top Perplexity sources include Dealroom.co, EU-Startups, and Seedtable. Top ChatGPT sources include Sifted, Failory, and PitchBook. Sources used are mostly overlapping. If you try to replicate this, please keep in mind that your prior search history may impact your results. For most accurate results test on virtual machines. With a fundamental shift in search on the horizon, the way AI models perceive your brand will become increasingly important. Sharing a few thoughts from my annual migration for #SuperReturn #SuperVenture in Berlin. 1) This continues to be the best VC/LP/PE event annually. Many are at the conferences, and almost everyone has a representative in town. Any managers or LPs not in attendance should consider it next year. 2) The European emerging manager scene is on fire. I met with almost a dozen, some old friends, some new, all as sophisticated as their US counterparts with thoughtful strategies and impressive growing portfolios. 3) Europe lacks the concentration that SF provides the US. Many startup hubs, some larger, but everyone in Europe is spending way more time on planes than their US counterparts. 4) Nobody knows where the market is going, and fundraising has been tougher in the last 18 months than before, but most agree a lot of money is still being put into the venture ecosystem. That's resulting in a return to deal pace & valuation acceleration -- is FOMO back? TBD 5) In an ironic twist, there seems to be strong interest from US LPs in European managers, and from European LPs in US managers. What did you see? What interested you this year? Welcome thoughts. I agree that the #CDP category is substantially inadequate for the current market needs of marketers. However, I don't believe the future lies in a tripartition of CDP solutions. Instead, it will move towards new models like #MOS (#MarketingOperatingSystems). These are solutions that offer an end-to-end platform for all the needs outlined in the post's image. Interesting to see how the Corporate VC world of Saleforce Ventures has ended up feeding acquisitions through to the main Salesforce. Bastian Lehmann's pitch for Tip Top is one of the clearest I've seen in years. Just tight, no jargon, and very relatable. A few highlights: "Buying is easy, selling is hard". Who can't relate to that? And then the slide showing all the ways to pay (which is what most people are talking about these days), but saying "more ways to pay doesn't make things more affordable." 🎯 Can you be this clear about what your product is and why it's worth using? Real data on RTO from the most reliable source I know on the topic, Nick Bloom: 1) Hybrid-WFH has no impact on productivity at all: nothing positive or negative, in the short-run (6 months) or long-run (2.5 years), on output, leadership, innovation, performance or promotions. 2) Hybrid reduces quit rates by about 35%. Each quit costs the firm about $20,000, so Hybrid is very profitable. 3) Hybrid has the largest reduction on quits for female employees, which can improve gender mix in industries like tech and finance.

Over the past 25 years, advertisers have had to pay incredible amounts of money to reach customers online. Why? Advertising auctions. To buy advertising slots from companies like Google, Facebook, or Amazon, your favorite brands constantly participate in auctions against each other. Big Tech companies usually allow the highest bidders to display their ads. That competitive environment forces brands to outbid each other to win ad spots - making them pay more and more. ‍ It’s taken decades for advertising costs to rise so much, but today, when your favorite brand sells a product for £100, they probably had to pay £20-£40 on ads for Big Tech to find the customer to buy that product. That’s a whopping 20% to 40% of an item’s purchase price on ads just to get one single sale! ‍ Big Tech has gotten richer, but shoppers – the people advertisers are trying to reach – haven’t seen any of that. AdAttributionKit: Unpacking Apple’s new ad attribution framework AAK unifies Apple’s various advertising attribution frameworks under a single umbrella product name and extends SKAdNetwork in meaningful ways, including with support for re-engagement and alternative app marketplaces. These are substantive improvements. But impediments to adoption remain: IP-based attribution is still widely viewed as a suitable alternative to Apple’s native iOS attribution framework, meaning that platform tools like Conversion APIs will take adoption priority.
