Discover the state of digitalization in German companies: If you're curious about progress. You're not alone. Enter the Bitkom Studie Digital Office Index 2024. A comprehensive study with key insights. It reveals the readiness for digital transformation: • 96% of companies are open to digitalization. • 83% already have a digital strategy. Yet, challenges remain: → 60% struggle with a lack of skilled workers. → Mobile work is common, especially in IT and finance. Digital solutions are widespread: ↳ 98% use ERP systems. ↳ 91% use CRM solutions. ↳ 84% use ECM systems. E-invoicing and automation are on the rise: → 55% create and receive e-invoices. → 16% are automating processes, often with AI. Paperless work is a goal, but only 15% are fully paperless. Looking ahead: → 80% see the need for increased investment in digitalization. → High costs and a lack of skilled workers are major barriers. The economic benefits are clear: ↳ Automation and transparency in business processes are increasing. ↳ The overall index stands at 62 points, a slight rise from previous years. Leading the way: → Large companies and the banking and automotive sectors are ahead. → 40% of companies are pioneers, 42% are in the middle, and 18% are lagging. Conclusion: Digitalization in German companies is progressing steadily. Large companies drive this change, while small and medium-sized enterprises are catching up. Despite the progress, the lack of skilled workers and high investment needs are significant challenges. Companies that adopt digital processes early can gain competitive advantages, especially through automation and efficiency improvements. Long-term, digitalization is expected to grow in importance and significantly impact competitiveness. Take the next step today. HARDWARE IS HARD or: "Closing the Gap: Turning Talk into Investment for Climate Tech Hardware" as this panel at the Bits & Pretzels German Accelerator booth was officially coined. My observations: 🛠 Solving the world's most pressing problems (#pandemics, #climate change) takes more than software. Companies like Wirelane, Enpal, Encavis AG and many other contribute to real change through hard (hands on) work 💲 Despite this obvious observation, the panel discussed whether #VC is the right kind of capital for this challenge. Why? The rule of diminishing incremental cost doesn't kick in (as hard) with most hardware related companies, meaning that scaling a business according the venture capital's expectations becomes hard to impossible. 💡 Nevertheless, capitalism is extremely efficient: funds like Intermediate Capital Group (ICG), Infracapital, InfraRed Capital Partners Ltd and many others are bridging the gap by moving further upstream with their (usually infrastructure heavy) investment thesis. VC funds like UVC Partners set up growth funds to meet their (hardware) portfolio company's higher capital needs. The latest Bitkom Cloud Study once again confirms the importance of cloud technology for the digitalization and thus ultimately the competitiveness of German companies. The demand for cloud services continues to rise unabated, driven in particular by the digitalization of internal processes as well as AI and cybersecurity. The demand for AI applications alone will double in the next 5 years. 40% of companies are already relying on cloud-only or cloud-first strategies. Accordingly, cloud services will dominate IT in just a few years. However, bottleneck factors in this transformation are costs, time and the shortage of skilled workers. - We offer suitable solutions for this.
