🌐 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒: 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭, 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐭𝐲, 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 🌐 The Bitkom Cloud Report 2024 offers interesting insights into the role of Cloud Services in the German economy. 🔒 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐓 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 is considered a must-have-criterion for 99% of surveyed companies when evaluating Cloud Services. At the same time, 50% of respondents perceive regulatory security requirements as a hurdle during their Cloud transformation. On the one hand this conflict suggests that efforts are required to make the complex regulatory landscape more accessable. On the other hand it highlights a need for companies to develop compliance strategies, ensuring they stay on top of relevant security and compliance standards, such as BSI C5 for Cloud. Cloud Providers also have a shared responsibility by being transparent about their compliance and security measures as well as providing users with the necessary guidance to integrate their own compliance and security strategy. 🛡️ 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐭𝐲: While the surveyed companies were only partially familiar with the concept of "Cloud sovereignty", they nonetheless deemed many of its core aspects important: ☁️ Multi-Cloud is often a key part of the respondents' Cloud strategies to ensure reliability and stability. 🔐 Data protection is a must-have for 99% of respondents. 🤝Interoperability is a must-have for 60%, and Open Source for 46% of respondents. 🏢 Germany is preferred as the location for data processing by 99% of respondents. I just read the Cloud-Transformation survey conducted by CIO, CSO, and Computerwoche and found that it adds interesting perspectives to the findings of our own PwC Cloud Business Survey on the state of Cloud transformation of German companies.🌩️ The study reveals that cloud security plays an important or even decivisive role to more than 70% of the respondents. Almost half of the companies also stated that the lack of qualified personnel, as well as a high degree of complexity, pose major challenges during their digital transformation, resulting in a shift towards external Cloud services. 🔍🤝 The key criteria for companies when selecting a Cloud Provider are: • 🔧 Trust in technical expertise, • 🔒 trust in information security, • ⏰ Trust in service availability, and • 📜 proof of compliance (e.g. via certificates). And for good reason! More and more companies are migrating to the cloud, and one thing is clear: while it offers enormous opportunities for innovation, cost optimization, and security, there are also challenges along the way.   Together with my colleague Vania Bosshart, I wrote an article for the new Netzwoche issue to shed light on the most important aspects of cloud migration – from change management and strategic planning to cost and data management. During last several years it has become evident : 1. geopolitical uncertainty in the region has continued to grow. 2. cloud has not proven to be the only and most secure medium neither for operating tasks, nor for disaster and recovery scenarios.
