MD @ WHU Entrepreneurship Center - Germany's #1 community of business startup founders

"Europe Eats The World" 🌍 – a reality that challenges investors to strike a balance between impact and profit. And it's a balance we should all be learning - especially in the #startup and #VC world. 🚀 The core message from the WWF 🐼 report bearing the title above: The EU consumes far more than its fair share, with food production heavily reliant on imported resources. I think disruption across industries – particularly food – is no longer a choice, but often a necessity. Climate crisis, water scarcity, political dependence, or health issues all demand decisive action on where our financial resources go. 🌱🌍 To be fair, traditionally, in business schools, we've mostly taught and learned to "hunt for #alpha." 👔 Impact? That's a different game, right? To no one's surprise here, it's becoming clear that both can go hand in hand. 📊 Simon Capital, led by #WHU alums Jan Leicht and Dr. Friedrich Droste, is pushing this space. Simon Capital is named after the Simon family, which has been leading the #Bitburger Group for the last 150 years and were the anchor investor for the fund. Considering the strong influence of the "Bitburger Family" it is no surprise that Simon Capital has a strong track record in (directly and indirectly) funding and supporting Food startups. But beyond Bitburgers track-record in the food industry, most entrepreneurial families best-case think long term, in "family heritage" and #sustainability as the base for lasting businesses. This mindset is also part of the Simon Capital DNA: "For the next generation." 🧬 For example, Ben Unterkofler, co-founder of share alongside WHU member Tobias Reiner, has this to say about their investor: “Being on the mission to generate #SocialImpact through daily #consumption with a wide range of consumer products comes with complexity. We are very happy, to have Simon Capital on our co-driver seat, who constantly supported us beyond financing wherever we need sparring.” 💬 That’s the kind of value-add we want to bring to the table at our upcoming #ImpactInvesting Workshop, organized by the great people at WHU Entrepreneurship Roundtable on Thursday, October 10th, at our #Düsseldorf campus. 💪 Together with a keynote by WHU founder Lukas Puender, who just recently announced the €15m funding round of his #GreenTech venture Retraced, the team of Jan and Friedrich will dive deep into how to make your investments truly count – for your portfolio and for the planet. 🌍💼 If you are interested in #VentureCapital and #ImpactEntreprenuership and want to learn how to balance returns with real-world impact, this is the workshop for you. 📅 Thursday, October 10 · 1 - 7pm CEST This is an interactive workshop, so only limited spots are available! 🎫 https://lnkd.in/eWw5SwaJ Sign up now! Look in the comments or reach out to Fiola and Aniruddh! 🙌
