Have an insight in our new project in Baiteshwor Rural Municipality, Nepal. Some weeks ago I had the possibility to meet Bhav, our project leader in Nepal, in Kathmandu. We had a interesting talk and he told me about the poor access to good nutrition for students in Nepal and his vision to face this challenge with a promising project idea: Bhav is an Expert of climate smart agriculture and he and his team are working on a concept to combine a healthy school fed programm for children and organic food production together with the local Goldmadevi farmers group. In the future the children at the school have access to nutritious and locally produced food as an alternative to cheap but unhealthy junk food. The meals are paid by the school and the farmers get supported with education and substitution. The project team plants to execute activities at the farrmer´s, teacher´s and student´s level to raise the awareness about ecological farming and adequate nutrition of the producers and consumers. The farmers also benefit from the stable income they get by the deal with the school. I´m looking forward to follow the progress of this interdisciplinary project and I wish the team a successful start. #ecologicalfarming #healthynutrition #ruraldevelopment #localconnectivity #education

The newly established Kibaha Environmental Conservation Action (KECA) started its work on our new partnership project "Kibaha Apiculture Center" in October. The goal is to build a training Center for beekeeping and bamboo education in Tanzania. The first day of construction was the 12th of October, and now, 5 weeks later, the Center is almost finished! Ok, we prepared for this project - funded by the BMZ small project fund - for almost two years, but that it would evolve so fast is really astonishing. We are thankful for the reliable construction workers, the KECA board supervising every second of the construction progress and of course the Schmitz Foundation aka BMZ for its trust and support. #tanzaniabeekeeping #actionnetworkworldwide #tanzaniabamboo

🌱 Boosting a Green Economy in Pakistan with Olive Cultivation 🌱 Sustainability Week Pakistan (SWP) is making strides toward climate adaptation by empowering youth with climate-resilient skills that uplift marginalized communities. As part of this effort, thousands of olive trees are being planted across Bajaur and Lower Dir, creating lush green valleys and generating economic hope. According to Dr. Mohammad Naeem of Swabi University, Pakistan spends billions annually on edible oil imports, yet 4.4 million hectares of land are prime for olive cultivation. Expanding local olive farming can significantly cut these costs, boost farmers' incomes, reduce poverty, and drive Pakistan toward self-sufficiency in edible oil. 🌍💚 #SustainableAgriculture #GreenEconomy #ClimateAction #Pakistan

🌱 Webinar Recap: Enhancing Soil Health – Insights from India 🌱 We’re excited to share the key takeaways from our recent webinar on “Enhancing Soil Health – Insights from India”, where experts from the Patanjali Organic Research Institute (PORI), Haridwar, India, walked us through a comprehensive value chain approach to soil collection, testing, and result dissemination. The webinar highlighted the innovative use of IT solutions for traceability, ensuring transparency throughout the soil management process. PORI’s extensive field experience in soil testing within the Haridwar district provided valuable insights into sustainable soil practices and effective community engagement. This insightful session was jointly organized by Action Network Worldwide, Global Agricultural Extension and Rural Services, and PORI , drawing participants from India and over a dozen countries. The event wrapped up with a vibrant Q&A session, addressing participant queries and leaving everyone with actionable points to improve soil health. A lot of things have happened for the beekeepers at Kibaha and Ruvu this year: Heavy weather had destroyed the the beekeeping lodge. Mr Vicent Mwakamo, a beekeeper from Kibaha, and his team spend a lot of effort to clean the house with the beehives and secure the honey production again. Beside that Mr Mwakamo represented the beekeepers of Kibaha and Ruvu at the National exhibition in Morogoro. They brought buckets full of honey for the visitors to taste and sell it. #beekeeping #ruralempowerment #actionnetworkworldwide
