David has been involved in many aspects of the Internet since beginning his career in 1983 including protocol development and implementation, network operations, and the administration and governance of the Internet system of unique identifiers. Having been the founding Director General of APNIC, Executive Director of the Internet Software Consortium, co-founder of Nominum, Board of Directors Member of ARIN, General Manager of IANA, and CTO of ICANN, David has gained a deep understanding of the Internet governance landscape, the implementation and deployment of Internet protocols, and network operations and security. On those rare occasions when he’s not in an airplane, David lives with his wife in Los Angeles, California and serves at the pleasure of a fluffy St. Bernard/Old English Sheepdog rescue and an overly curious Red Footed Tortoise.
