restrict
Chromebooks from connecting to unmanaged networks. Admins can also choose to restrict their devices from connecting to entire interfaces like WiFi or Ethernet.
These settings will apply to devices using version 49 or above.

The Admin console has been updated with new policies and improvements to the device details page:
Admins can now
autocomplete the default domain
to use when a user only enters their username at the login screen.
A new policy enables users to
enter an asset identifier
during the enrollment process. The asset ID field in the device details page will now automatically populate with this value if entered at the enrollment screen of the device. On version 44 or above, the asset identifier also appears within the operating system.
The device details page now contains a section titled 'System Activity and Troubleshooting'. It contains some of the existing fields as well as the new policies detailed below.
Two new options are available in the
System Activity and Troubleshooting
section of the device details page: Reboot Device and Screen Capture.
Only devices running on version 44 or above are eligible for the new policies.

The Admin console has been updated with a new set of
monitoring and health reporting features
for devices set to
auto-launch a kiosk app
:
Additional fields available in the device view under “Hardware and OS”.
A new column in the device list view to indicate the status of the device.
An option to send alerts via SMS, email, or both when an outage is detected.
Only devices running on version 43 and above and set to auto-launch a kiosk app are eligible for these features.

The Admin console has been updated with a new field in the device list.
The
Asset ID
field allows admins to track devices using their preferred inventory asset naming conventions.
It is now possible to sort the device list by asset ID.
Edit the asset ID by clicking on a device, then editing the "Notes" field.
Read and write access are available via the
Directory API
.

The Admin console has been updated with a new user setting.
SafeSearch for Google Web Search and Safety Mode for YouTube can now be
independently configured
on Chrome 41 and above.
For users using devices running Chrome 40 and prior, enabling any setting that turns on SafeSearch will also turn on Safety Mode for YouTube. This includes the settings "Always use SafeSearch for Google Web Search and Safety Mode for YouTube queries" and "Always use SafeSearch for Google Web Search queries only."
The setting "Always use Safety Mode for YouTube queries only" will not work on devices running Chrome version 40 and prior.

The Admin console has been updated with a new Network section under Device Management.
The new interface allows admins to define and push networks to
Mobile
,
Chrome
, and Chromebox for Meetings devices through a unified interface.
The Device Management page displays the number of devices associated with each platform. Click on these icons to navigate to the device list. Settings for each enabled service are located on the left.
Only platforms that support the network configuration will be available in the option "Restrict access to this Wi-Fi network by platform".

manage Chrome apps
with greater control:

will remain available.

The Admin console has been updated with the following changes to policies and the device list:
Admins can now place lost or stolen devices in a
disabled state
and display a customer message on the disabled device screens.
The
search feature
in the device list now accepts partial matches for serial numbers.
A new user policy is available to determine which users have
permission to enroll
new or deprovisioned devices. Devices that are on the
forced re-enrollment screen
can still be enrolled by any user in the organization.
Deprovisioned devices are no longer blocked from enrollment, now that there is a user policy to control enrollment permissions. As a result, there is no longer a need to place devices in the "Pending" status in the
device list
.
