Reporting to the Executive Director of Information Technology Services/Chief Information Officer, the System Specialist 2 Cyber Network Security plays a pivotal role in safeguarding our college-wide network infrastructure.

Essential Duties Summary
Your Role Expectations:
As a System Specialist 2 Cyber and Network Security, you are the shield protecting our digital realm.
Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Information Technology Services/Chief Information Security Officer, your responsibilities will encompass:

Network Security Mastery:
· Design and implement network security measures to safeguard our infrastructure.
· Monitor network traffic for signs of malicious activity.
· Investigate and respond to security incidents and breaches.
· Collaborate with IT teams to establish and enforce security policies.
· Conduct regular security audits and assessments.
· Configure and manage security appliances and tools.
2.
Empowering Cyber Security:
· Provide end users with guidance on security best practices.
· Delivering required Cyber Security Training and Best Practices
· Offer ITS support for security-related events and initiatives.
· Communicate security updates and changes to users.
· Exhibit a customer-oriented attitude and dedication to user security.
3.
Protocol and Policy Management:
· Create, update, and implement security protocols, policies, and guidelines.
· Collaborate with IT teams to establish and enforce security policies.
· Conduct regular security audits and assessments.
· Provide end users with guidance on security best practices.
4.
Resource and Compliance Management:
· Maintain detailed records of security configurations and incidents.
· Organize security-related resources and tools.
· Document security-related installations, upgrades, and actions taken.
· Contribute to the development of security documentation, policies, and guidelines.
The System Specialist 2 Cyber and Network Security will also undertake additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Information Technology Services/Chief Information Officer.

Required Qualifications
Qualifications that Set You Apart:
· Associate’s degree in cyber security, computer science, or a related field
· Proficiency in network security principles, techniques, and technologies
· Minimum of one year of Cyber Security or network security experience
· In-depth knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
· Familiarity with network intrusion detection and prevention systems
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in cyber security, computer science, or a related field
· Network security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
· Experience with security assessment tools and vulnerability management
· Familiarity with security standards and frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST)
· Previous collaboration with cross-functional IT teams
· Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
· Network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+
· Experience with network monitoring and management tools
· Familiarity with network security best practices
· Exposure to cloud-based networking solutions
· Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
· Experience working in Academia
