IMEG is growing, and we’d love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Crew Chief/Survey Technician in our Charlotte, NC office.
As a Crew Chief/Survey Technician you will be responsible for providing production surveying duties under leadership from the Senior Survey Technician and Land Surveyor.
Responsible for calculations and surveying judgment based on prior surveying experience.
As needed, the Crew Chief/Survey Technician is responsible for the supervision and participation in daily operations of all field activities including boundary, topographic and as built surveys, and construction layout.
Some key duties and responsibilities include: Create and review field instructions Perform moderately complex survey tasks Operation and assistance of operation of GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors and other survey equipment Act as party chief or field crew as requested by Land Surveyor to complete survey field work Complete boundary reductions and mapping/topographic field reduction in CAD software program, QC with Land Surveyor in charge Review processed data and field notes for quality control prior to and during data reduction.
Downloads, maintains, and verifies accuracy of project survey data and reports and manages survey database Provide staking computations, staking/control exhibits and survey crew instructions for construction staking projects Complete corner recordation forms and other close out documentation Perform field work for land surveying scopes of work including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, topography surveys and performing routine survey/engineering computations for various project types Assist CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing in detail the surveys performed using word processing and Computer Automated Drafting (CAD) software Operate a company vehicle and equipment Observe safety and security procedures Key skills and abilities needed for the position are: Broad knowledge of land surveying principles and practices.
Expert knowledge of modern survey devices and modern survey methods.
Proficiency with basic survey and mathematical calculations and coordinate geometry.
Proficiency with data collector Perform minor trig computations Demonstrated aptitude to understand calculations, alignments, and instructions for field work Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents with excellent communication skills Knowledge and ability to deal with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and schedule equipment and supplies Proficient in on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques Understanding survey operations and identifies potential problems Working knowledge of CAD software functionality.
Proficient within Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook), Leica, Digital Level, and Trimble Geomatics Office (TGO), Trimble Business Center (TBC) software Travel may be required Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier Education and experience requirements are: Associates Degree in Land Surveying or Minor in Land Surveying preferred Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certificate is preferred 6+ years of experience Experience with GPS applications including RTK and static control surveys Experience with overseeing work quality, training and instructing crew members on company standards and methodologies So, what are you waiting for?
