DEI Course Offerings
General Education courses at the College of Charleston intentionally engage students with the concept of diversity. Courses may range from art and religion to film and philosophy to sport and sociology. The definition, contexts and relevant content may change from course to course. However, in each course, students discuss diversity and consider how these ideas can be applied outside the classroom.
Majors & Minors
Diversity, equity and inclusion play a critical role in the classrooms of every major, minor and academic program on campus. A few examples include:- Neuroscience students have used brain imaging techniques to examine how social categories of race and ethnicity are processed, evaluated and incorporated in decision-making.
- Women's and Gender Studies students explore intersectionality as a lens to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Accounting majors learn how social responsibility is an integral component of becoming a CPA.
