The Giga Technology Centre in Barcelona recently hosted the second Government Technology Exchange Programme (GTEP), a four-day focus on the tools and services developed by Giga to facilitate school connectivity. The event gathers technical delegations from countries engaged with Giga to accelerate the challenging process of bringing online learning to their schools, often located in rural, remote and underserved areas. The latest GTEP gathered government delegates from Brazil, Honduras, Panama, St. Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda and a representative from the Organization of Eastern Caribbean (OECS). Special guest Uruguay also attended, and shared its experiences with Ceibal, a groundbreaking initiative and digital technology in education. Giga was proud to participate in the #BuildingBridges24 event in Geneva last week on "Blockchain: The Key to Green Banking" session hosted by STORM Partners. The discussion highlighted blockchain's transformative potential in creating a more transparent, inclusive, and sustainable financial ecosystem. 🌍 During the session, Giga co-lead, christopher fabian underscored transparency as a cornerstone of sustainable finance. Giga is using blockchain technology to connect schools in underserved regions and transform connectivity metrics into tradable credits. This innovative approach is unlocking new financing opportunities for local service providers while bridging the global digital divide. 📹 Watch the recording: https://lnkd.in/gQ7Rs4Pm 🔗 Read the blog: https://lnkd.in/dKAKGU39 #Blockchain #TechforGood #ConnectivityCredits #ConnectEverySchool
Can #blockchain drive a greener, more inclusive future for banking? 🌍💡 At Building Bridges 2024, STORM Partners hosted the event’s only blockchain-focused panel: "Blockchain: The Key to #GreenBanking," moderated by Sheraz Ahmed. A huge thank you to the experts who attended the event: Milko Hensel, Aliya Das Gupta, Paul BUREAU, christopher fabian, and Felix Simon! During the panel, interesting insights were discussed about: 💳 Democratizing finance – Tokenization is breaking barriers to wealth creation. 📊 Driving trust – Blockchain ensures transparency in ESG and beyond. 🌱 #Sustainability in action – Streamlined reporting and reduced costs. Challenges like regulation and legacy systems remain, but one thing’s clear: blockchain is a catalyst for global change. https://lnkd.in/dKAKGU39 What’s your take? 👉 How can blockchain redefine banking and sustainability?
