I am Out. Of. Office. ! For a month! - Yes, you read that right! 😎 I'll be back for more #DEI work on Sept. 2nd. In the meantime, you'll find me: 🏅 At the Paris Olympic Games ⛰ In the mountains or at the beach 🏖 🧘🏻‍♀️ On my yoga mat or on a surf board (likely falling off of it) 🏄🏻‍♀️ 💫 Reconnecting with family and friends Basically anywhere but in front of my computer! And as I enjoy a bit of R&R, I'll also reflect on (and leave you with something to reflect on too): ✅ The immense privilege that it is to be able to take time off work, let alone to travel freely to visit loved ones. ✅ The political act of taking time off, as a woman, as an entrepreneur. ✅ How DE&I and work-life balance are actually two sides of a same coin. 💡 On that last point: #Inclusion is about disrupting the many norms we've grown accustomed to in our societies. One of those norms is the fast-pace, performative and productivist nature of our workplaces (and all its global consequences, whether for our planet or for human livelihoods and rights). But for our workplaces to become more inclusive, we need to press pause. We need to slow down. We need to replace the fast-pace by the inclusive pace: a pace where part-time and flexible hours are not seen as 'underperformance', a pace that will allow us to adapt our work methods to the needs of people with disability or neurodiverse profiles, a pace that preserves mental and physical health, a pace that allows us to live-out our identities, religions, and beliefs, and that puts work back where it belongs in our lives. On that note, wishing you all a lovely Summer time (if it is in fact that time of the year for you), and I look forward to reconnecting with you and getting back to building inclusive workplaces next month! Flipping through a magazine at the hairdresser, I land on an article titled: “Be kinder to your vagina.” The article promises an ‘abundance of new ways’ to make my vagina healthier. Wait, WHAT? Was I not being kind? What exactly was I doing wrong? Spoiler: the article was really about selling products, making women feel like their vaginas didn’t meet some arbitrary standard of “natural” or “right.” What frustrates me about content like this is that it shames women into believing (once more) that our bodies aren’t right. As a menopausal woman, I’m already being told my body size is wrong, my hair is too grey, I’m losing my youthful skin. And right after that? Someone tries to make money off my insecurities. We need more from magazines, politicians, and anyone with a platform. Not this endless body-shaming to sell us more stuff. 📌Know anyone advocating for women’s health and bodies? Starting our pitch with a guided meditation felt counterintuitive. During rehearsals, I found myself speeding through it, feeling pressured by our tight 4-minute window to introduce the Teufelsberg Transformation Lab project, we have been working on for over a year now. How could I not feel rushed, there was so much to tell: — the journey our team experienced in conducting research and experiments and the challenges we faced — the audience we chose to design for — our co-design sessions on citizen-led policy transformation and other activities we developed. However, we decided to prioritize connecting with our audience — emotionally and physically — before diving into the content. We invited everyone to tune into their bodies and notice how they felt when hearing words like “change” and “transformation.” While the time timer kept ticking on.  In the end, this was a perfect demonstration of what we are aiming for with this project: to approach the poly-crises of our time with a sense of groundedness, connection, and belonging by integrating the body, emotions, and mind. Ironically, I realized later, it was also a reflection of our current reality. Despite the urgency we feel, sometimes the best way to move forward is to slow down and tune in. Our approach and project resonated. Out of six excellent pitches at the event hosted by the Helga Breuninger Stiftung GmbH and HPI d–school at NIO, our team won first place. It was such a pleasure to get back together with some of our core team, Marko, Felix, and Trang Trần. Want to improve your relationships and reduce conflicts? The Science Makes Sense - Neuroscientist Grit Hein's research shows that learning empathy is key. Her studies found that positive interactions with people from different backgrounds can actually change our brains, making us more empathetic. In Switzerland, Hein's team paired Swiss participants with both Swiss and Balkan individuals, who often face prejudice. The results? Positive experiences with out-group members increased empathy. Other research confirms that the more we know about others, the more empathetic we become. If you think you can't find female founders, you're not looking. Earlier this year I decided to systematically add female founders (and their content) to my feed. And mute other voices that don't add the value I'm looking for. Turns out, there are a lot of female founders building successful tech, product, and service companies. Maybe you also need some inspiration (or more deliberate diversity). Every Friday, I'm going to highlight a few that I've met IRL or online. Let's call this "Follow a Female Founder Friday". Make sure to give them, and their businesses, a follow. * * * Robyn Greaves is the co-founder of Pravi.ai. They use advanced AI technology to help charities and nonprofits find and convert their ideal donors. After testing NotebookLM for me it is a great way to get started and get an idea what a podcast could be. Yet, for an enduring format, I think it is way to generic. Fourth in a series of six FAQ videos about LinkedIn. This week's FAQ video: How often should I post on LinkedIn? Your frequency of posting depends, to a large extent, on your reasons for being on LinkedIn. If you are on LinkedIn primarily to help have a professional presence and don’t intend to be all that active on the site, then posting as little as a couple times a month is just fine. Or you may choose not to post at all. Conversely, if you want to use LinkedIn to help market your business, then I believe that posting once a week is manageable for many people. Or post more frequently if you wish. The key is to be consistent with your posting. For example, I've committed to post one of the videos in this six-video series every Wednesday. Pick a day and time and schedule creating that post into your calendar. Or create a series of post that will publish at a certain day and time. You do this by using the scheduling feature of LinkedIn. You may choose to create all your posts for a month (or even longer) in one sitting. As for what to post about, consider some of these options: ✅ Share trends in your industry ✅ Address common challenges that your clients are having ✅ Provide “how to” tips ✅ Announce events you will be attending that you think others might want to attend ✅ After the event, post about how you benefited from being at the event. ✅ Share good news, such as an honor or award you got Whenever possible, include a photo or other visual with your post. After you post, be sure to check your notifications for the next few days, as it’s important to respond to comments that people make on your posts and to thank the people who share your posts. #linkedin #linkedintips #linkedinposts

Is this the next step for us? Sunday Bites... Newsletters. Well, I know there are tons of them. The question is, do people actually read them? Because time is limited. But there's certainly a group that does. That's why we were thinking about creating one. This one will not be your average newsletter. We're planning to create a weekly "Sunday Bites." We have tons of talks, hear various stories, and visit different places. Behind the scenes, we do a lot more. And that’s something we want to share. The idea is that Sunday Bites will consist of: 1. Spectacular Speaking 13!!! Last week, I realized that the keynote I’m flying for TOMORROW to give in Zurich was 80 minutes long. It’s a 2-hour workshop, so I needed to cut AT LEAST 20 minutes to give the audience time for group exercises. You may have heard that it’s essential for writers to “kill their darlings.” This means that the editing process can be brutal, and sometimes, we have to get rid of things we adore. I took this out, but I’m sharing it here because I Iove it. You can think of this as a quiz similar to the ones in Cosmopolitan magazine in the seventies. Are You In Love with Your Work? A Quiz. 1. How do you feel on Sunday night (if you have a traditional Monday - Friday job?) Do you: A) Lay out your clothes, and pack your lunches for the week, and just think about all the exciting things you get to do at work? B) Or would you rather schedule a root canal on Monday morning to buy yourself a few more hours outside of the office? 2. How do you feel on a random Tuesday or Wednesday after work? A) Do you have plenty of energy to do the things that light you up? Do you make time to go to the gym, have dinner with friends, or take the pottery class you’ve had your eye on? B) Or are you so exhausted at the end of a weekday that the only options you have the energy for include switching on Netflix and having food and alcohol delivered to your door? 3. Do you find yourself perusing Indeed at night by the flickering light of your laptop screen- wishing, hoping, praying that the perfect job is going to come save you? A) No way. B) Do you have cameras in my house? Key All As- Congratulations! You have clearly either found an ideal job fit for yourself OR you’ve used your relationship with work as a catalyst for your personal and professional growth. I uprooted myself, sold it all and moved to Germany with three suitcases on a gut feeling. I really couldn’t give anybody a definite answer of “why”. I just knew I had to. Today I know why. I finally had to come face to face with an old arch enemy. This old enemy has terrorized and dictated my life for as long as I can think. And chances are, he is your arch enemy as well. His name is loneliness. Loneliness is the greatest underlying fear most of us have. It drives many of our choices and decisions. Loneliness can be excruciatingly painful. It’s a dark place. I know, because of it, I did not want to live anymore. So when I got rid of my entire life – my business, my home, my cars, all of my belongings – and landed alone in Germany on January 1st, I entered the arena and came face to face with my life’s biggest challenge. Loneliness is a fear that limits our potential and makes our lives miserable. It’s time to talk about it and learn to manage it. It’s been a painful, yet very enlightening journey. And now that I am out on the other side, I can tell you ✨      There is a way. ✨      It is so worth it. I share my findings with you in this week’s podcast episode #31. My EA tells me that when she first read this, she was like “𝗡𝗼! It does not come from telling. When faced with a complex challenge the best solution most often comes from asking good questions. Here's how to start: Ask "How can we < fill in one or more outcomes here > ?" Like this: + "How can we meet our customer's need in less than an hour?" + "How can we build this product with a $50 k budget?" + "How can we improve communication without adding more meetings?" How. Can. We. Good questions help us think differently. Different thinking sparks different action. Different action delivers different results. Pretty sure we all want that. #differentthinking

TRANQUILITY For many years I subscribed to the thought process: Work Hard - Play Hard That served me well for a time, and there was also something missing.
