What do you do if your team is resistant to change despite your high emotional intelligence?
I find it useful to map behaviors in a matrix to see which are common in the organization (followed by all or none) and which are critical for success in the new strategy. Sure, all of the steps mentioned are important. However, during times of change, we must be strategic about where we invest our resources. Sometimes we have to accept that certain behaviours will persist and that some people will become disengaged. We want to quickly address common behaviors that are distracting from the future we want to build. If the behavior is uncomfortable but does not cause us to fail right now, we can put it on hold and reconsider how to address it later.

What do you do if your organization is resistant to change but also needs stability?
Effective change management requires aligning change initiatives with the organization's long-term vision. When changes are seen as part of a coherent strategy for a compelling and stable future, individual acceptance increases. You can achieve that by clarifying the vision, linking the vision to the changes, setting clear milestones and objectives, and communicating continuously and extensively (globally and locally), proactively reaching out for feedback and feedforward, celebrating achievement and transparently sharing failures and learnings, and allowing for adaptation and adjustments as you go.

What do you do if your organization is resistant to change but also needs stability?
In environments that appear resistant to change, the first critical step is to identify the organization's underlying needs. Your business's operational, cultural, and strategic aspects must be examined. Engaging with team members at all levels helps us see where change is needed and where stability is essential. It's natural to resist change, especially when new directions and outcomes are unfamiliar and uncomfortable. This resistance can be especially strong when individuals or teams feel the changes threaten their daily operations and long-term security. Stability is a basic human need that is often mistaken for resistance to change. In such cases, resistance is a request for reassurance, not a rejection of innovation or progress.
