We are thrilled to support the World Stroke Organization and partners on this new initiative: the Global Stroke Action Coalition. The role of stroke prevention, treatment and care in reaching SDG targets is too often overlooked. It’s time to elevate this issue on the global agenda to achieve better health for all. Stay tuned for more!
Launching the Global Stroke Action Coalition As the global policy community starts to prepare for the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDS, we are excited to have convened the first global stroke advocacy coalition. Members of the Global Stroke Action Coalition represent scientific, patient and industry sectors from each global region, all committed to working together to provide a unified voice and to maximise visibility for stroke in key global and regional policy events and dialogues. As the second leading cause of mortality and third leading cause of disability globally, it is clear that there is no possibility of achieving SDG3 without specifically addressing stroke. We know what works, we can show how to implement it, and we know the potential return on investment. We CAN deliver stroke care for ALL and accelerate progress on global health and development goals. Are these topics close to your heart? 👉 Register to join the conversation at 18:00 CET: https://lnkd.in/gQDMETgh #PandemicPreparedness #GlobalHealth #EndInequality #G20Brazil #HealthPolicy
Economic and social inequalities make it harder for people to access vital health services, increasing their vulnerability to diseases. This threatens global health security and undermines the progress made in fighting existing pandemics like AIDS. Now is the time for bold action to address these inequalities. 📅 Join us tomorrow to explore solutions with leading experts. https://lnkd.in/gQDMETgh

The #PowerOfAntibiotics campaign has made it to the finals of the Anthem Awards! Developed by our team at Infinity Communications in collaboration with Minthical for the Global Antibiotic R&D Partnership (GARDP), it highlights the urgency with which we must all respond to the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) crisis. Personal stories of AMR are at the heart of the campaign. The #PowerOfAntibiotics campaign is helping GARDP to build a global community of online supporters, increase AMR awareness, and drive engagement. Join us in amplifying awareness of AMR by voting for this campaign in the Community Voice Awards: https://lnkd.in/g3e4FH-i The Anthem Awards #HealthCampaign #HealthCommunications #AntimicrobialResistance

A few weeks ago, in collaboration with Infinitum AI, we took our Gen AI training to the communications team at the TDR programme, based at the World Health Organization. A big thank you to the attendees, who joined us with warm energy and insightful questions on the potential and risks of AI. They particularly appreciated the hands-on prompting exercises, and have already started integrating the learnings in their day-to-day roles. We’re excited for what’s next! If you’re interested in learning how AI can transform your work, don’t hesitate to reach out. #AIforHealth #GenerativeAI #HealthCommunications #AITraining Marco Barber Salvat Marina Monzeglio

It was a privilege to hear from the esteemed panelists at Geneva Graduate Institute yesterday, addressing the pressing issue of the global health funding shortfall. The full house was a testament to the importance of this topic for everyone working in global and public health. As global health communicators, a key takeaway for us was the importance of crafting a compelling narrative to secure political and public support for global health funding - in a way that people understand. How we tell the story is a crucial part of the solution. If you couldn’t attend, here are some key takeaways: Challenges: 🔹 With declining ODA and reduced disbursements, many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs/LICs) are preparing for significant impacts. 🔹 Joyce Ng’ang’a highlighted the immediate strain on health programs, for both non-communicable and communicable diseases, stressing that the most vulnerable populations will be hardest hit unless urgent action is taken. 🔹 David Evans' categorisation of countries showed that not all LICs/LIMCs are the same. Certain LIC/LMICs may be able to adjust to funding cuts (those expanding), while others (contracting) will face severe difficulties. 🔹 Erika Placella discussed the increasing fragmentation in the global health landscape, with new organisations seeking funding, which may not always benefit the countries in greatest need. Proposed solutions discussed: ✔️ Reducing debt burden to allow countries to invest more in their own health systems. ✔️ Leveraging existing mechanisms and structures rather than further fragmenting global health efforts. ✔️ Encouraging high-income countries experiencing strong economic growth to contribute more. ✔️ Increasing the role of philanthropic donors, which are becoming even more crucial. ✔️ Incentivising contributions from high-net-worth individuals and companies. ✔️ Creating efficiencies e.g. by re-evaluating aid criteria based on need, as suggested by the classification shared by David Evans. ✔️ Ensuring primary care services and community programmess remain supported, as they are essential yet at risk. ✔️ Elevating health as a priority on political agendas—not just during times of crisis. ✔️ Building a compelling narrative to show how health is interconnected with other areas high on the agenda such as climate, biodiversity, and food/malnutrition. ✔️ Engaging all stakeholders, including civil society, in dialogues with policymakers and parliamentarians. It’s essential to continue these conversations and actions to bridge the funding gap and protect global health programmes. Thanks to the organisers and the panelists for an insightful and thought-provoking discussion. We'd love to hear your views on the solutions proposed and other ideas. AMR is invisible. Its victims are not. You’ve probably heard the numbers. Antimicrobial resistance, or drug resistance, is linked to 5 million deaths every year. It’s a hard-hitting stat. But it’s one that’s so vast, the reality is hard to grasp. As global health communicators, we deal every day in data and stats. We know how easy it is for organisations to get lost in them and to lose sight of the people behind them. We mustn’t. If we really want to inspire action, we need to draw attention to both and make sure that the stories of real people are heard. Afterall, that’s what good health comes down to: people. Behind every decision, every policy, and every promise is a real lived experience, and we love that this campaign by World Health Organization brings survivors’ stories to the forefront. There is just one week to go until the UN High-Level Meeting on AMR, and we urge governments and the international community to take this opportunity and commit to action. Because if the world doesn’t act on AMR, it’s not just the numbers that will go up. The human cost will too. Listen to AMR survivors' powerful stories and support the campaign: https://lnkd.in/eDZGbpDR #UNGA79 #AMR #AntimicrobialResistance #AMRSurvivors #GlobalHealth

Exciting times ahead at Infinity Communications! Yesterday, we had the pleasure of working with Marco Barber Salvat as we prepare to deliver Gen AI training to our clients. AI has the potential to revolutionise our work in health communications, but the key to unlocking its full potential lies in equipping teams with the right skills and knowledge. That’s where our training comes in. We’re taking a behaviour-centered approach, blending theory with hands-on practice to build confidence in using AI tools, and empower teams working in global health organisations and healthcare companies. The climate is changing, and so is the risk of malaria. But how do you grab people’s attention when you’re advocating for a disease that is too often seen as a “problem solved”? You “change the story”. That’s how. At Infinity, we’re always keeping an eye out for great campaigns, and this latest contribution by #ZeroMalaria is one of them. We love that: ➡️ They put children’s stories front and centre. After all, it’s children who are most affected by malaria. It’s only right that their voices come first. ➡️ That the central story is told in the first person. Hearing directly from young people themselves helps remove the sense of “otherness” and create a connection with the reader. ➡️ Where adults tend towards jargon, young narrators use language that is clear and accessible, making a complex issue easy for everyone to understand. Of course, using the name “Beckham” is always going to get attention. But the lens stays firmly on the children whose stories are being told. This is their story. Their campaign. His profile serves as a platform to help raise their voices, but they are the ones advocating for change. Inspired?
