At 23, I was an accountant who happened to come across a Customer Service Representative position on Kijiji. What began as a simple application turned into a career in the automotive industry, full of challenges and opportunities for growth. For over 50 years, the automotive industry has been surrounded by familiar stereotypes: “This is a male-dominated field.” “Women don’t belong here.” “You don’t understand the technical side.” “You lack the experience.” I heard these comments repeatedly. For a time, I even questioned my place in the industry and went back to school to finish my degree in accounting, thinking it might be my exit route. But as the years went on, I experienced a pivotal shift in my journey. Despite facing difficult situations, including challenges with leadership, I persevered and eventually found myself working for an owner who believed in my potential. With their support, and the encouragement of my colleagues, I realized that I could do more—much more—within this industry. As I transitioned into operations, I saw firsthand the evolving nature of the automotive world. I took on hands-on roles, from managing parts to optimizing workflow on the shop floor. This immersion deepened my understanding and passion for the business. Now, after 14 years in this industry, I’ve made it my mission to foster a culture that values knowledge-sharing, provides career opportunities, and supports women who seek to make a meaningful impact. I’m committed to creating an environment where our efforts to build an inclusive, empowering culture are recognized across North America. This dedication is why I pursued an MBA—not only for personal growth but also to drive positive change in the automotive sector. My thesis focused on women in the industry, addressing stereotypes, breaking down barriers, and building pathways for future generations. People often say, “The grass is greener on the other side,” but I believe the grass is greener where we choose to cultivate it—where we hold ourselves accountable for continuous improvement, for owning our mistakes, and for finding solutions. I firmly believe in giving back to those who have invested in my journey. Their support, both in time and resources, is invaluable, and it drives my commitment to making the automotive industry a better workplace for everyone, especially the next generation. This includes implementing replication strategies, distributed processing, and monitoring for system health. ·       Performance Optimization: Optimizing integration processes for efficiency and scalability. As anticipated, Canada has reduced its immigration levels for 2025-2027.  The new permanent residency targets are as follows: 2025 - 395,000 as compared to 500,000 in the previous plan 2026 - 380,000 as compared to 500,000 in the previous plan 2027 - 365,000 permanent residents For the first time, the Immigration Levels Plan also includes reducing the number of Temporary Residents in Canada, and we will see Canada's temporary population (workers & international students) decline by  445,901 in 2025 445,662 in 2026 a marginal increase of 17,439 in 2027 This decline in temporary population will come from the following factors:  1) They will transition themselves as Permanent Residents  2) They will exit Canada upon expiring their status. 3) Limitations on the number of temporary approvals (study and work permits) in the coming years. Now, let's look at the categories that will be most impacted by this reduction in immigration levels: Key takeaways are as follows: 1) The Federal Economic Priorities category will continue to focus on some specific categories, including healthcare occupations, trade occupations and French language proficiency. Expect changes in some other priority categories/occupations.  2) French-speaking category to be the biggest winner with 8.5% - 10% of overall permanent resident admissions to be French speakers.  3) Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) applicants will be reduced from almost 110,000 to 55,000, the most significant drop among all categories.  4) Good news - The in-Canada Focus category is introduced, targeting candidates primarily with the Canadian Experience Class.  5) Admissions under the Federal Business category will decline to 1000 by 2026. 6) Family class category to decline from 110,000 to 81,000 in 2027, which means less number of admissions per year for spouses, partners, parents & grandparents.  7) Applicants who will adapt to the skill gaps in Canada and contribute to those sectors will benefit the most.  8) All applicants eligible to enter the Express Entry pool should do so without delay, without considering whether they have enough CRS scores. #Canadianimmigration #immigrationrtoCanada #CanadaPR #ExpressEntry #Canadianworkpermit #Canadianstudypermit #workinCanada #StudyinCanada #Permanentresidency #SkilledWorkerCanada #CanadaPNP #CareersinCanada #CanadaFamilySponsorship #CanadaVisaProcessing #JobsinCanada #FrancophoneCanada #ImmigrerAuCanada #TravailAuCanada #RésidencePermanenteCanada #FrancophonesAuCanada

It took me a little over 80 days to land a job from the time I actively started looking for one! Navigating this competitive and relatively unfamiliar Canadian job market, I thought I was ready for: - ⁠Lingering uncertainty - Continuous self-doubt - ⁠Potential feelings of inadequacy Despite the mental preparation, facing one such setback threw me a little off and I ended up scribbling a reminder for myself. Thought of sharing it here, in case it resonates with someone going through something similar! You are going to get ghosted. You are going to get rejected. You will be considered underqualified. You will be considered overqualified. Your experience could be limited. Your experience could be irrelevant. Your skills may not align with their needs. Your background may not be what they’re looking for. Your confidence might be misinterpreted. Your persistence might be seen as desperation. There can be 100 reasons for them to pass on you, And yet, only a handful compelling ones to make you an offer! But you know you don’t want to settle for a role that doesn’t excite you. You would rather pursue something that aligns with your skills and interests. It might take longer than you want it to, but the right opportunity will definitely be worth the wait and effort. To everyone hustling through the job hunt grind: Every rejection is a step closer to finding your perfect fit! If you accept a role you are not passionate about, you’ll end up returning to the job search process sooner than you think. Stay true to your goals, and the ideal position will come your way.

Canada may change the Post-Graduation Work Permit policies The Canadian Government is considering changes to the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) program, potentially linking it to areas of labour shortage. The plan may limit overall access to the program but aims to align PGWP eligibility with labour market demands, improving employment outcomes for international students. Currently, PGWP is open to all international graduates from publicly funded programs without work restrictions. The proposed changes could significantly alter this. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requests feedback on which jobs should qualify for PGWP and whether some student groups should be exempt. The government is also considering requiring a job offer for PGWP holders after one year, along with other potential criteria like language skills.
