Addressing health inequity often means meeting people where they are. Even better than helping people navigate systems is adapting service models so less navigation is needed. Peel Region’s Communicable Diseases team recently achieved a great example of this. As part of our continuing journey to improve client care by addressing health inequities, we’re expanding our formal medication distribution network for Tuberculosis (TB) treatment – increasing from 3 participating pharmacies to 15. In addition to adding pharmacies, we added pharmacies that had free parking and free medication delivery.    This significant expansion allows more people to get TB medications from convenient locations across Peel. Clients also benefit from valuable medication reviews with pharmacists, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and support. This is improving access to care to support healthier lives. As highlighted in a recent post, Peel Region is currently recruiting a new Medical Officer of Health. Need help navigating psychological services? When it comes to the care of your patients, time is of the essence. That’s why we’ve joined forces with the Ontario eServices Program to facilitate the integration of two digital health platforms that will help save precious time and improve efficiency. This partnership recognized a need to help navigate patients to psychological services. Now, the integration of Strata Health to OceanMD means that family physicians and nurse practitioners can now save time by referring patients from their EMR.
