The best part of Revenue Kick Offs (besides connecting with the team) is hearing from individuals with high-growth company experience. Big thank you to Emmanuelle Skala for hanging out with us at our RKO to talk about her time scaling Toast from $20M > +$1B (and her other roles at Sophos, Influitive, DigitalOcean and Endeca). Some takeaways from her chat with Philip Braden: It's everyone's responsibility to surface inefficiencies in a business. It's not solely leadership's responsibility. As you grow, not everyone can be in the room anymore. You have to trust the people delegated to make those decisions. And it's not only leaders; it's a group of people where ideas are vetted, keeping leaders grounded in reality. Get very good at running very rapid tests. As you grow, it's imperative to test changes before full implementation. Assumptions/Emotions don't matter when you have a real reason to implement change. Don't get emotional about change. Ultimately, it will be better for your career. Embrace it. You can say, "Hey, if I were to change something, here are some things that might make a difference." If you need help understanding the WHY behind the change, feel free to speak up and ask. You should have a solid answer. Alignment = common objectives and truth in data

Are you wasting resources running after useless data 🗑️ or are you leveraging your data efficiently? ✅ We've all been there (or are there right now) - drowning in numbers, charts, and attribution models. But here's a hard truth: Having data without knowing what to do with it, how to leverage it, and without it leading to insights is a waste of resources. Remember, attribution is just a means to an end, not the end goal itself. What truly matters are the insights we derive and how we act on them. The line between thorough analysis and analysis paralysis is thin. While attribution models paint a picture of our marketing efforts, they often show only part of the story. The real value lies in what we do with that information. This is where the magic happens: leveraging your data for forecasting and better budget allocation. It's not just smart - it's an amazing use of resources. By using our attribution data as a springboard, we can dive into what-if analysis (Read Daniel Meler latest post to dive into it): ❓ What if we reallocate budget from channel A to channel B? ❓ How might changing our content strategy impact our funnel? ❓ What could be the ripple effects of adjusting our targeting criteria? These questions help us move beyond mere data interpretation to actionable insights that drive strategy and optimize resource allocation. Here's the bottom line: If your dashboards, reports, or spreadsheets aren't leading to meaningful insights, informed decisions, and improved forecasting, you're not leveraging your data to its full potential. Let's shift our focus from getting lost in the numbers to using them as a launchpad for strategic thinking, innovation, and more efficient resource allocation in our marketing approaches. Software vendors often forget why companies invest in their tech stacks They are all trying to drive more revenue. The HubSpot ecosystem is sadly also guilty of this. With all of the new features getting released, it's very easy to focus on finding a problem for these new features to solve. Unless RevOps professionals can refocus their conversation around driving revenue, the solutions they are presenting will always be "expensive nice-to-have" tools. There's one component almost everyone is missing from their ICP definition. Trigger events. Let's take a step back. You should reverse engineer your ICP from companies in your CRM that: - Buy quickly (because they're in pain) - Renew (because they get value) - Expand (because they use the product) - Advocate (because they love the product) Once you isolate these companies, you look for commonalities that produce a set of filters to apply to all of your GTM efforts. Think if it as a SELECT statement: prospect_to(db.execute("SELECT name, email, role FROM companies WHERE industry = 'Technology' AND employee_count > 1000 AND last_meeting < DATE('now', '-6 months')")) ICP filters often stop at firmographics (size, industry, region). Smart teams include more subtle traits like reporting structure and technographics. But I rarely see trigger events used to narrow or prioritize the pool. For a cybersecurity vendor, some triggers might be: - Hired a new CISO - Filed an 8-K - Purchased a SIEM - Posted cloud architect role on LinkedIn A company that had weak ICP-fit based on firmographics alone might actually buy fast due to a trigger. The more dynamic your filters are, the sooner you get to a prospect in pain, the better your targeting is, the less money you spend to generate an opportunity. Many teams generate their filters but don't religiously apply them in all GTM tactics. As a result, they're setting money on fire chasing accounts that will never close.

It was a dark day. Once upon a time, we realized that we were losing a meaningful number of demo requests into a black hole due to an undiscovered break in our demo request flow. We had many different tools talking to each other, and a leak had sprung at a critical point in the process, delivering a terrible experience for buyers. 💔 One of the first places I dig into when I start a new role is the space between an MQL (for us at Sendoso this is a high intent hand raise; typically a demo request) and a sales qualified opportunity (for us, this means a meeting has taken place and we know the buyer is a good fit for our solution). Go through your own demo request flow regularly. You will almost always discover leaks, unnecessary delays, tools not working properly together, routing issues, and more. It’s a HUGE area of opportunity. Today, Chili Piper is launching their Demand Conversion Platform, which includes everything GTM teams need to convert demand: chat, form routing, lead distribution, and scheduling. This is cool for many reasons, but I love that it simplifies the process and reduces the chance that different tools aren’t playing nicely together. After testing over 30 different setups, I've found a winning formula that boosted my deliverability rate to a remarkable 96.7%. Here’s how: Step 1: Optimize Your Domain and Email Setup * Use New Domains: Purchase new domains specifically for cold emailing to avoid flagged reputations. * Diversify Email Accounts: Split your accounts 50/50 between Gmail and Outlook to mitigate risks associated with algorithm changes. * Configure DNS Settings: Set up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records to authenticate your emails. * Warm-Up Period: Gradually warm up your accounts using tools like SmartLead before full-scale outreach. Step 2: Smart Sending Tactics * Validate Email Lists: Use tools like MillionVerifier or ZeroBounce to ensure you're emailing valid addresses. * Use Spintax: Create variations in your messages to bypass spam filters. * Avoid Spam Triggers: Steer clear of spammy words and excessive symbols in your emails. * Match ESPs: Send Gmail emails to Gmail users and Outlook emails to Outlook users to improve deliverability. * Keep Sequences Short: Limit your email sequences to 2-3 emails to maintain engagement.
