To help enable nuclear development in Saskatchewan, SRC and SaskPower have joined the CANDU Owners Group (COG). Joining COG will provide both companies with additional resources as they pursue further development of the nuclear industry. COG has 40 years of experience in the nuclear industry, which will enable SRC to leverage the expertise of the group in the development of new technologies, evaluating new approaches and participating in and providing unique perspectives into the Canadian regulatory framework. Anfield Energy Inc. Announces Shareholder Approval of Plan of Arrangement Anfield Energy Inc. has announced that shareholders have approved the proposed plan of arrangement with IsoEnergy Ltd. during a special meeting held on December 3, 2024. SRC and Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. (AECL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote and explore a collaborative and strategic approach to nuclear research and innovation in Canada. Key components of the agreement include knowledge sharing and identifying potential opportunities for cross-collaboration. SRC is pursuing licensing and demonstration of a microreactor in Saskatchewan, which has the potential to create socio-economic opportunities for both communities and industries. On Nov. 12-13, 2024, the Energi Simulation team visited the University of Calgary to review Professor Apostolos Kantzas’ research chair program in #energytransition. Representatives from Cenovus Energy, Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL), Cascade Institute, Remedy Energy Services Inc., KALiNA Distributed Power Limited, Algar Geothermal, Alberta Innovates, PRTC and the University of Regina also participated. Good progress has been made, through the Energi Simulation Centre of Geothermal Systems Research that is led by Professor Kantzas, in geothermal simulation, energy harvesting, as well as thermal and elastic property determination. Research on the fundamentals of unconventional resources also continues to support the industry in maximizing the energy efficiency of heavy oil and bitumen recoveries. Great news for the cross-provincial companies: As of May 30, 2024, an OHS allowance has been passed in Alberta to allow out-of-province first aid training equivalence as long as it meets CSA Standard Z1210-17, First aid training for the workplace - Curriculum and quality management for training agencies.
