The drafting team for the "Building Resilient Food Systems" report met last week in Rome to dig into the concepts, research, and gaps that will shape the draft report. Great ideas and are emerging from this team!
This week in Rome, the HLPE-FSN drafting team is hard at work on the report "Building resilient food systems." Different positions and visions are coming together. The team is shaping definitions, examples and pathways, and identifying gaps in both literature and practice. 🔎 The team is making great strides in engaging in deep and productive discussions on equitable transformative resilience in food systems and analyzing the structural vulnerabilities that shape the impacts of shocks and stresses on people and nature. 📌 Transforming food systems requires a holistic and equitable approach. The team had the privilege of meeting FAO’s Carlo Cafiero, who shared key insights into the HLPE-FSN publication process, providing valuable guidance as the team works on the V0 draft of the report. Thank you, Carlo, for your expertise and availability! The Secretariat of the Committee on World Food Security also warmly welcomed the team, offering valuable information about the negotiation processes among Member States to shape global food security and nutrition policies. Many thanks to Adriana Herrera Moreno, Dr Fatiha Terki and Giorgia Paratore for offering their vision and support. Meet the team: https://lnkd.in/dt7MHyke Stay tuned for more updates on this crucial work for food security and nutrition!

#FLOWPartnership Regional Project Introduction - Migori County, Kenya! 🇰🇪 Kenya, located in East Africa, is feeling the effects of climate change, with smallholder farmers in regions like Migori County facing tougher growing conditions. The Kenya FLOW Team, led by Dr. Samuel Gudu at Rongo University is introducing sustainable farming techniques—like permaculture, crop rotation, and regenerative farming—to empower farmers and make food systems more resilient. With community radio and podcasts sharing research, plus training for students, women, and youth-led farming groups, the project aims to improve yields of staples like maize, millet, beans, and sorghum. 🍠 🌽 Learn more on our website: https://lnkd.in/g2p4an3Z #Permaculture #SustainableFarming #ClimateResilience #KenyaAgriculture

Graduating PhD students looking for a post doc opportunity: check out this position with Universitat de Barcelona 👇
Associate Professor at University of Barcelona; Director of the Food Action and Research Observatory (FARO)
Bon dia! We are advertising a new post-doc position for 2 years in our Food team at UB, linked to the Food Action and Research Observatory (FARO). We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on the Project CITIES4FOOD - TRANSFORMING DIVERSE CITIES FOR SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY, conducting scientific and management activities throughout 2 years. Food systems are at the heart of the current socio-ecological crisis, contributing to a third of greenhouse gas emissions while failing to deliver healthy and adequate food for all (food security), which results in urgent health problems across the globe and mounting inequalities. How we produce, transform, distribute, consume and dispose of food is profoundly transformed by urbanisation trends, with an increasing share of the population living in cities. To tackle these pressing challenges, CITIES4FOOD aims to explore how various urban socio-ecological configurations and governance interventions influence sustainable food security outcomes in an increasingly urbanized world. The postdoctoral researcher will be participating and co-leading research, management and communication activities within CITIES4FOOD. Generally, the researcher will support the PI and the rest of the team in achieving the scientific objectives of the project, developing effective task management and collaborative work, and publishing and disseminating project findings. We seek highly motivated candidates to: - work in an international, innovative and multistakeholder team, - develop state of art research activities (conceptual frameworks, methodologies and empirical work) to create more just and sustainable cities through urban food policies and initiatives, - communicate and amplify scientific, policy and innovation knowledge generated to deliver change locally and internationally, and - develop transdisciplinary work, co-producing solutions with different types of stakeholders and implementing changes on the ground, For additional information on the offer description and application procedures, go to https://lnkd.in/dA3zPJ6v Thanks, Ana
