  • On this International Human Solidarity Day, we celebrate the power of unity in addressing the challenges that divide us. Solidarity is not just a principle—it is a call to action. ⚠️ Hate thrives when communities are divided, but solidarity reminds us that we are stronger when we stand together. ⚠️ When we unite against hate, racism, and discrimination, we create safer, more inclusive spaces for everyone. At StopHateAB, we believe solidarity is the foundation for building an Alberta where justice, dignity, and respect prevail. Standing in solidarity means acknowledging that we all have a role to play in fighting hate and lifting each other up. 💜 On this day, let us remember: our shared humanity connects us all. By standing together, we can create a world free from hate, rooted in justice and compassion. #InternationalHumanSolidarityDay #EndHate #StopHateAB #JusticeForAll #InclusiveCommunities #TogetherForChange #SolidarityAgainstHate

  • 🌍 Today, we stand with migrants and celebrate their resilience and contributions 🌍 On this International Migrants Day, we acknowledge the invaluable role migrants and immigrants play in shaping Alberta, Canada, and the world. Migrants bring their skills, cultures, and perspectives, enriching our communities and driving economic and social progress. Yet, we must confront an unsettling truth: anti-immigration hate is on the rise in Alberta. ⚠️ Misinformation and xenophobia are fueling division and hostility toward those seeking a better life. ⚠️ This hate ignores the fact that immigrants and migrants are the backbone of many industries, bolster our economy, and contribute to vibrant, inclusive communities. We must also remember: except for Indigenous Peoples, we are all immigrants or settlers on this land. Our shared history as newcomers to this place should unite us in welcoming those who seek safety, opportunity, and belonging. Immigrants have built businesses, served as essential workers, and contributed to the cultural richness that defines Alberta and Canada. Their courage to uproot their lives and start anew is a testament to the strength and diversity that makes our society thrive. 💜 Hate has no place in Alberta. On this day, let us challenge anti-immigration rhetoric, celebrate the positive impact of migrants, and commit to building a future where everyone—no matter where they come from—is valued and supported. #InternationalMigrantsDay #EndHate #StopHateAB #JusticeForAll #InclusiveCommunities #AntiRacism #CelebrateImmigrants #AlbertaForAll #TogetherWeThrive

  • Thank you to the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights for inviting StopHateAB to their Momentum event last night. It was a wonderful evening filled with laughter, music, and meaningful connections with community members. This event is part of Justice4Reel, a transformative week-long festival (December 10–18) showcasing powerful films exploring themes of resistance, oppression, and solidarity. We’re grateful to be part of this important initiative!

Nine years ago today, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada released its Final Report. We stand in solidarity with Survivors and their families for sharing their stories, and honour Chief Commissioner Murray Sinclair on his leadership in advancing 94 Calls to Action, which remains vital in our journey towards reconciliation. Read the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Reports: https://ow.ly/AC5950Urklt. On June 2024, the AFN released an annual report card to measure the progress on realizing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Calls to Action and found that the Government of Canada has failed to demonstrate a meaningful implementation of the Call to Actions. We will continue to advocate for the complete implementation of the 94 Calls to Action in support of Survivors, families, and First Nations across Turtle Island. • 🌍 Today, we stand together for justice, equality, and dignity. 🌍 On this International Human Rights Day, we celebrate the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948—a document that affirms the inalienable rights of every human being, regardless of race, gender, nationality, or belief. But as we reflect on this milestone, we must confront a hard truth: human rights are under attack, and the rise in hate crimes threatens their very foundation. The reality is stark: ⚠️ Hate crimes are on the rise, targeting individuals based on their race, religion, gender identity, and other protected characteristics. ⚠️ These acts of hate don’t just harm individuals—they tear at the fabric of human rights, undermining the principles of equality, safety, and dignity for all. ⚠️ The increase in hate crime is a reminder that silence and inaction in the face of hatred are not options. Hate thrives when human rights are ignored. At StopHateAB, we know that the fight against hate is a fight for human rights. Hate crimes are not isolated events—they are violations of the right to live free from fear, discrimination, and violence. Today, we call on everyone to stand up against hate, protect human rights, and build communities rooted in justice and respect. 💜 Let this day remind us: protecting human rights means addressing hate at its roots. Together, we can ensure equality, dignity, and justice for all. #HumanRightsDay #EndHate #StopHateAB #JusticeForAll #EqualityForEveryone #CombatHate #ProtectHumanRights #DignityAndRespect

  • 🌍 Today, we remember. Today, we act. 🌍 On this International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide, we honor the lives lost to one of humanity’s darkest crimes. Genocide is not just an atrocity—it is the ultimate hate crime. And yet, too often, we fail to name it for what it is. Genocide is rooted in hate, fueled by discrimination, and enabled by silence. It begins with the same forces that drive hate crimes today: dehumanization, systemic bias, and the normalization of violence against marginalized groups. The truth is stark: ⚠️ Genocide doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it grows from the seeds of unchecked hate. ⚠️ Too many still do not recognize genocide as a hate crime, dismissing the clear connections between hate-driven acts and mass atrocities. ⚠️ When hate crimes go unchallenged, they create fertile ground for larger-scale violence, division, and destruction. We must act. Genocide prevention starts with combating hate crimes, addressing systemic discrimination, and standing against all forms of oppression—no matter how small they may seem. At StopHateAB, we are committed to this fight. Every act of hate is a warning, and every voice raised against hate is a step toward preventing future atrocities. Let this day remind us of the urgent need to confront hate head-on, to amplify the voices of those who have suffered, and to fight for a future where dignity, respect, and justice prevail. 💜 "Never Again" is not just a promise—it’s a call to action. Together, we must ensure it becomes reality. #NeverAgain #EndHate #GenocideIsAHateCrime #CombatHate #JusticeForAll #StopHateAB #HumanDignity
