Thank you to everyone who joined us for our festive lunch last week! It was a pleasure celebrating a year of progress on our PTSI Centre of Excellence for First Responders. We were thrilled to share our vision for this groundbreaking initiative—the first of its kind in Canada. By integrating post-traumatic stress injuries into rehabilitation, we’re shifting the conversation and providing the care First Responders urgently need. The Centre will offer supportive, holistic care, including prevention, intensive treatment, and return-to-work support. Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining the incredible team at Runnymede Healthcare Centre to celebrate the amazing work they’re doing to support Ontario’s First Responders. This centre is the first of its kind in Canada, offering a world-leading treatment-and-wellness program designed for First Responders. Thank you to all the First Responders who work day and night to keep us safe.

📣 Shakil Ahmad MD,DM,MHCM,CPHQ, CPSO, FISQUA and Lucas Chartier, moderated by Brian Harvey, just explored how a Just Culture approach transforms how healthcare systems respond to safety incidents. The discussion showcased the power of tools like Runnymede’s Incident Decision Tree, which helps organizations analyze patient safety incidents and address both physical and non-physical harm, including emotional, cultural, and financial impacts. In addition, Lucas Chartier introduced the University Health Network’s new paradigm shift towards non-physical harm, addressing rising systemic issues and preventing harms caused by factors beyond the physical realm. #JustCulture #PatientSafety #QualityCare #HealthcareInnovation #SafeCare

Runnymede had the honour of presenting alongside international healthcare organizations from China, Spain, Chile, and across Canada, highlighting the incredible work of our team. As a Best Pracractice Spotlight Organization® (BPSO) designated by the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO), Runnymede has successfully proudly published an Evidence Booster on “Patient and Family-Centred Care,” and implemented three best practice guidelines: ✅ Person and Family-Centred Care ✅ Preventing Falls and Reducing Injury from Falls ✅ Transitions in Care and Services A huge #thanks to everyone at the BPSO Symposium! Today, we remember the brave men and women who have served and those who continue to serve, in our armed forces. At Runnymede, we recognize the sacrifices made to protect our freedom and peace.
