People keep telling me my biggest challenge will be managing how busy we’ll be. Honestly, that’s a challenge I’ll take any day over navigating final permit approvals, dealing with delivery delays from the Canada Post strike, or planning around the two-week holiday shutdown for trades in Québec. Despite these hurdles, we’re on track to deliver a fully accessible, state-of-the-art workspace from shell to completion by early 2025. At LAUFT, we’re solving a bigger problem: reimagining office infrastructure for distributed teams of all sizes. For public servants, that means creating workspaces they need—closer to home and faster than traditional solutions. Whether it’s eliminating wasted commutes or time spent waiting for a desk, our mission is clear: to get people working quickly, efficiently, and without frustration. #MakeSmartWork

A few years ago, I was stitching together a 360 tour for our Google listings when I received a friend request. Serendipitously, it turned out to be from someone at Google. Not exactly from the 360 tour department, but he was eager to help. That’s how I met Michael Huang. It turned out he was building a side project. We immediately connected over our shared passion for crafting great work experiences, from the chairs and desks we use to the spaces they occupy. A partnership between Risedesk and LAUFT was born. Patience and perseverance have characterized every moment since—until today. We’ve just received our first order of ergonomic chairs and height-adjustable desks from Risedesk to outfit our first coworking space, purpose-built for the Government of Canada. We may be small fish in our respective industries, but together, we can accomplish extraordinary things. Here’s to many more deliveries to come! Todays holiday market at the Loft workspace on 95 King St E was amazing! Daniel Lewis was serving his outstanding Chai tea! A delicious way to warm up. Lignum Honey Inc. served up honey so good it made me weep a little. Honey is one of my favourite things and I feel privileged to have a jar. Nerpy's Inc. brought amazing hot sauces and Blue mountain coffee! (If you know, your KNOW!) Shanny’s shortbread cookies is now celebrating 40 of his outstanding secret recipe. The depths of flavour he has created are next level. The cranberry cookies brought so much delight! I was there with my Pomp & Sass Turkish towels. Ready to wrap you in really good towels. We can do all things in community. Today we came together to celebrate a few local small businesses and provide a quick holiday shop for the locals. These events fill my cup! What amazing things are on the horizon I wonder?

True masters make everything look effortless. Today I had the joy of watching Daniel Lewis work his magic. If you've ever spent time around Daniel, you know exactly what I mean. He was at the LAUFT Downtown Toronto King Street location with Graham Wong for a holiday pop-up, and it was a sight to behold. It reminded me why I'm grateful to call him a friend and why it was so awesome to have him as my second guest on The Immersive Lab. But here's what really strikes me about Daniel - he's a master of relatability. The way he connects with absolutely anyone on any topic, filling the room with positivity and excitement... it's something special to witness. Do yourself a favour and follow his journey. Fun fact. When we were kids, my brother and I had multiple paper routes (3 each) and we both delivered the Toronto Star. It was 7 days a week and you'd find us sprawled in our lobby or on the front steps assembling papers and I especially remember the large Saturday edition being a task on its own. Good times. Fast forward a few decades (a little more than a few 👀 ) and look at this – a full circle moment without the shopping cart 🚀 🚀🚀 We #MakeSmartWork 💯
