We are proud to support The Joshua Group in Saint John, New Brunswick, with the donation of a new 15-seat van, making it easier for the charity to transport children to essential events and activities. The Joshua Group is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in a city with one of the highest child poverty rates in Canada. Last year, The Joshua Group received the DK Johnson Award, nominated by Branch Manager, Jennifer Folkins. During the award presentation, we learned that the charity had been using old, unreliable vehicles that could only transport five children at a time. We donated an additional $40,000 to help them purchase a new van to support their mission. Here is what Bobby Hayes founder of the Joshua Group had to say: “The van opens huge doors for the children to be transported to trade programs and sporting activities. These programs are necessary for children to learn new skills, which helps to break the poverty cycle”. In addition to The Joshua Group’s DK Johnson Award nomination, our branch employees Jennifer Folkins, Katy Brown, Paul McEwen, and Jamie Mckiel actively support the charity through our goVolunteer program—which gives employees three paid days a year to volunteer with a charity or cause close to their hearts.
