Jacques Latour, CIRA's Chief Technology & Security Officer, has announced his retirement after nearly 15 years of service at CIRA after decades of work in the private and non-profit sectors. Jacques has been instrumental to CIRA's journey, joining the team during a time of major growth and transition and helping CIRA modernize and innovate its offerings. He is key driver of impact who has led teams through important projects, including the IDN implementation, the early development of the CIRA Registry Platform and CIRA's Internet Performance Test. In recent years, Jacques has been a future-forward thinker when it comes to the possibilities for ccTLDs and the DNS by investigating and ideating around using the DNS for alternative uses like IoT registries and digital identification—all while staying committed to the security, stability and resilience of the .CA domain. When he's not doing all of the above and representing CIRA on the world stage at ICANN and other key tech forums through the years—Jacques is known for his sense of humour and for never missing a fishing trip 🎣. Jacques' 30+ year career has impacted many aspects of the internet community. For a trip down memory lane, we've shared some photos of Jacques throughout the years. We are grateful for his service and wish him all the best in this new chapter. Thank you Jacques!
