In honour of Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, CAAT hosted Indigenous physician and advocate Dr. Alika Lafontaine earlier today for a virtual session with CAATsters. Dr. Alika shared a brief history of reconciliation in Canada, emphasizing how to implement and promote equity, redesign health systems for improved efficiency and inclusivity, and advocate effectively for systemic change. Dr. Lafontaine’s presentation and the Q&A that followed gave us an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the significance of this day, and the lasting impact of the cultures, voices, experiences, and histories of Canada’s First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
